This was posted on RCTech:

Hi,
I'm posting from 360 RC Speedway and Hobbies. We are a full service Hobby Shop and 90'X40' indoor asphalt/carpet track in West Babylon, NY.

We are going to start running oval here and were looking to get a gauge of interest from any oval racers in the NY/NJ/CT area. Just looking to get a good idea of how we are going to schedule our oval racing program and the classes for it.

Thanks alot,
360 RC

Tried but no one listens to me. The place is great, the people are great and it's clean.

If you ran oval, what night would it be?
Week nights I don't think would happen I talked to Brain today and he said they got out at 12:00 AM last night.

Hi!

Well, we just got our latest layout down. We made it basically a "Roval" . It is an oval with an infield. It worked out awesome. I was a little worried that the one pole on the far end would be an issue but it actually is not bad. The oval ended up with 13 foot lanes in the turns, 9 foot lane down the back straight, and 10 foot lane on the front stretch (drivers stand side).

All I have to say is the thing is a blast! We just took turns with one of our new Rental/Spec cars (1/10th pan car, 4 cell, 10.5, Corvette body) and it really drove great. Fastest lap was a 5.18. Attatched are some pics.

Thanks for all the input so far. Please keep it coming.

Thanks!

Hey Dave...
Ya im quickly learning where the oval dudes hang out! haha. I definitely wanna get that car u were talkin bout, that would be awesome. We are going to add oval into our schedule asap. I think Saturdays are going to be our oval day, after the birthday parties are done for the day (they should be done around 4pm) So basically racing will start about 7pm. Figured Saturdays would be good for the traveling guys.

Anyways. thanks again Dave and whoever commented on our place. Its great, just need more racers!

your place looks ausome but like i said with fuel prices keep going up its hard to afford to go anywheres to race let alone anywhere in general. if you are planning on having any big events i would consider something like that. maybe get a couple guys and carpool to the track.

LOL, your right, I think we'll have to adjust the idea of a late start time and plan for a dedicated day for oval racing with an early start time.

We will keep you guys posted, the positive feedback sounds great though!
Sometime this weekend I think we will have our classes posted. Definitely will be an SK mod class in the mix :woohoo:

All I hear from the "on road guys" is what an awsome place this track is to race at. I unfortunately live to far away to make the trip for a reg weakly oval race but I would definately make the trip for a big event. I may even eventualy make it down for a on road event as well....

Donnie, track looks good, are you open for practice. I'm sure you can get some guys to race there and once the word is out more will come. Good luck, hope to see it soon.

Jimmy come on down ... there is a ferry that leaves from New london/groton and goes out to Longisland. when I ran onroad a group of us took the ferry across in stratford ct. ferry saved us 1 hr drive time onto the island.

:jest:Ill just have to rent a car or ride with someone else. Last time the tides were WRONG and I got my lowered pickup stuck on the ramp of the boat.

jmccormick: We are probably going to have oval classes at our trophy events this year once its all said and done..would love to have you there ;-)

Walter: Thanks man, I hope it takes off, we need all the racers we can get whether it is for oval, road, mini's..whatever. I guess we just have to offer it and do the best we can for scheduling, and get the word out there. We try to provide the best place/service we can so everyone that comes has as much fun as possible.

Racer06082: With no traffic it is actually faster driving around than taking the ferry, and less expensive. Our track is about 2hrs and 15min. from the New London ferry if you drive from there. Whereas if you took the ferry by the time you drove from Orient Point to us you'd be looking at 3 hours from New London, albeit alot nicer of a ride though. With traffic it does make more sense to use the ferry though. Either way would love to have you guys come down and check us out again!

Just to let you guys know, when the building is open, the track is open for practice. Our hours are:

Monday Closed
Tuesday - Friday 12pm-8pm
Saturday 10am-8pm
Sunday 8am-5pm

Racing every Fri., Sun. And Wed. during winter season.

Our practice fees are 10$ up to 4 hours, 20$ unlimited

More info from our 1st racing season on our website, www.360rcspeedway.com. It will be updated for this season soon.

Thanks guys
Donny

Donny....
I'm sure you won't make any of the trophy dates interfere with the Tour, and Truck stuff I'm assuming, I can probably swindle Szegedy (My Best Bud) to wheel one of my rides, although it's been years for him, And I'll have to get a lot of extra parts from Arnie Fie....:p

On a serious note, the corners look like they go pretty "Deep", maybe if you take some length off the infield, and add "Ice", would probably save on parts and aggravation.....Layout similar to the birds..(I know you've seen that track.)...we kinda had the same issue with SpeedZone in CT. when they gave Oval a shot, but they eventually worked it out....

Bill made a good point about the corners. Adding ice would make it easier on guys traveling a long way to bust up there car and be out of parts and then not want to make the trip back because of the inside wall. Other than that the facility looks great and very well lit.

Checked out the pics. The facilities look AWESOME!! Can't wait to head up there. Unfortunately Friday nights are a no-go for me coming from South Jersey, the traffic would be a nightmare.
