I have a Agco-allis with a 8.5hp Brigg & Stratton. The tractor is a 409G. It ran fine the last time i used it. I have good spark. I poured gas down the carb but it just did a series of backfires. help!! thanks.

You may have water in the fuel. And you might want to check the flywheel key.

Post the engine numbers Model, type and code usually found on the engine shroud above the spark plug. Have a good one. Geo

What is the model and type number off of your engine. Sounds like you may have a stuck valve.

just because its turning "normal" doesn't mean you don't have a marked or sheard flywheel key

:woohoo: 30yearTech was right on! I pulled the head off, turned the motor over, and sure enough the bottom valve did'nt move. Gave it a light tap, made sure it would close and open normally, put back together and it fired right up. saved me a ton! Thank You!!!
