ok need some help me and my cuz are trying to build the worlds fastest car.. and was wondering wat would be the best way to go. we were thinkin about taking a drag car and puting a turbine engine in it, or taking a touring car and put a arodynamic car body on it and deck it out for a speed test. we are just trying to think wat we are gunna use. gas, eletric,or turbine. so could u guys please help us. we would appreciate it. thanks!

If you are going to run the R/C at RCCarAction Event, it will need to be a wheel driven car. This means the rotation of the wheels need to propel the car, not such devices as a thrust engine or rocket pushing the car forward.

For your car selection anything goes so be open-minded. Long chassis are stable at speeds. Larger frontal area will require more power to get faster. Aerodynamicly A 1:12 car will require less than 1/4 of the horsepower to obtain the same speed as a 200mm nitro sedan. Smaller tires increase the rolling resistance so 1:12 tires may be too small for anything over 120mph. Tires explode and rotors explode if allowed to free-rev or over-rev. Rotors are good till about 60,000rpm, tires varies with sidewall height, glue and material. Do your test runs at running weight, but with less power. A car that is easy to drive slow, should be easy to drive fast compared to a irradict car at low speeds. Get used to the speeds and work to get faster and more stable at the lower power before bumping up the power.

...it's a lot of work to build a car that will stick to the ground and run fast.

Nic Case currently holds those records and the amount of work he's doing in effort to beat his own times is crazy...

He's tried many different types of cars and configurations... High RPM motors, lower RPM motors....Aero, not so Aero...
