I’m not sure how many Mad Men fans there are around these parts, but the New York Times Sunday Magazine just ran a swell cover story on the show in anticipation of this summer’s second season kick-off.

I discovered MM via iTunes, and it’s one of the best hourly dramatic series I’ve ever seen (how’s that for the Hard Sell). It may help that I work in advertising, but there’s something irresistible about the type of guy who can bang his secretary, toss back a few gibsons, chain-smoke a pack of Camels, scarf down a plate of Lobster Newberg, suffer through a coronary thrombosis, and still deliver a killer pitch to a client, all in the same afternoon.

Anyway, the NYST piece is worth a look if you’re a fan of the show (or are thinking of becoming one).

Oh, I've been diggin' this show since it premiered. They do fudge the timing of things a bit. I's supposed to be 1960, yet some of the advertising they mentioned comes much later.

I was initially drawn in by the promise of weekly Christina Hendricks but stayed for the drama , nostalgia and fantastic art direction.

The notion that a "Divorced woman" moving into the neighborhood would still raise an eyebrow....

My favorite moment featured a scene where Don's kids were playing with a dry cleaning bag over their heads and all the mother could care about was that they got her cleaning dirty....

well, that and the smoking, drinking pregnant ladies.

can't wait for the season set next week . The box is shaped like a huge Zippo Lighter (appropriately enough)
