I have seen some plastic tubes to seal up 1/10 pan car tire sets. Who makes them? I haven't been able to find any.
Thanks,

View Full Version : Tire storage tubes mrjake 06-19-2008, 12:03 AM I have seen some plastic tubes to seal up 1/10 pan car tire sets. Who makes them? I haven't been able to find any. Thanks, Bob J swtour 06-19-2008, 12:08 AM Bob We use the powdered drink containers (Generic Crystal Light) from Wal-Mart. You get the drink mix of choice....AND a nice plastic container for under $2.00 They hold ONE full set of OVAL TIRES perfectly. wait a minute 06-19-2008, 12:10 AM i know a guy i used to race with put them in pringles containers and the bags that dog biskets came in because it was like a ziplock bag and reusable. badoty 06-19-2008, 12:32 AM I use these and they work great http://www.viewtainer.com/ Get the 2.75" they work for any rubber and foam tire. Menard's lumber also carry these same containers......... C43GO 06-19-2008, 12:41 AM I have seen some that would work at my local menards store RCMits 06-19-2008, 01:38 AM i guess tires don't need to be "sealed" up do they? those "viewtainers" have a lil "slit" in the end... but i guess it wouldnt affect it too much now would it? trailranger 06-19-2008, 09:18 AM Man $4 a tube that only holds four rear tires can get expensive. For $3 a box, Lock&Lock storage containers work well. O-ring sealed for freshness, and most car haulers boxs can hold six. Plus the tires lay on the rims preventing flat spots. The boxes I use, hold 8 rears or 16 fronts, or 16 Sedan tires(24mm) and/or any combination of 2.25" tires. Taller tires could be used if a mixed with smaller tires. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3179/2592047383_a82bbfca22.jpg Dan 06-19-2008, 11:51 AM I have seen some plastic tubes to seal up 1/10 pan car tire sets. Who makes them? I haven't been able to find any. Thanks, Bob J My wife bought me a few from one of those catalog outfits that send you one every 3rd day... They are made to store crackers, and are 2-3/4 X 2-3/4 X 9-1/2. The are square, not round, so you can stack them, lay them flat or whatever and they don't roll around. Hold 4 rears, or 8 fronts (obviously other combos). She said they were like 2-3 bucks... Might be able to get them at a Kitchen etc. type store, too... Dan 06-19-2008, 11:55 AM i guess tires don't need to be "sealed" up do they? My guess is that you should be more concerned with storing them in a dark place, over an air-tight one.... I'd say UV rays are probably more harmful than atmosphere. But... I'm no foam expert either...:drunk: Turn4RC 06-19-2008, 03:51 PM Beefy Products & RKR both made tire tubes and we have them in stock. RCMits 06-19-2008, 05:41 PM i jsut found out a friend is a crazy crystal light drinker and has like 10 tubes waiting for me.. he goes through a tube a day.. hahahahahahah he's going to save them for me.. im excited (over tubes) haha swtour 06-19-2008, 06:21 PM Mits, That's about what I go through this time of year...I have a pile of 15-18 of them right now...and sent Jeff a box of about 18 a short time back. Now if Jeff could do a really cool lablel for those, with a place to mark what tire compound and brand is in each, with replacement labels for that section...hmmmm mrjake 06-21-2008, 02:03 AM Thanks guys for all the ideas and advice. I just bought 45 or so tires and need a way to organize them. Bob J DK47 06-21-2008, 06:55 AM Tennis ball tubes work nicely,go out to your local city courts and ask for some from the players. Todd Putnam 06-22-2008, 12:41 PM We still offer our 'Tire Tubes.' They are available in two sizes, small for foams or large for rubber tires. Have an attached, snap on lid. Each tube holds one set of (4) tires. Call the shop M-F, 9-5 EST for more details- Thanks, Todd Putnam Putnam Propulsion 518-452-0422 Greg H 06-23-2008, 10:00 AM I used tennis ball tubes before and they fit real nice in the Trinity storage boxes, however I found that tubes can be very inconvenient for several reasons. The tires often get stuck the wrong way in the tubes and you need to dump the all the tires out to get the one you want. When I saw the Lock & Lock containers that Trailranger was using I went right out to Walmart and bought a bunch of them ($3 each). Look for the 6.8 cup containers. They work perfect for me. They stack real nice in the Trinity boxes and you pop the top off and can see and pick the tire your looking for without dumping the whole thing. gezer2u 06-23-2008, 06:26 PM When I saw the Lock & Lock containers that Trailranger was using I went right out to Walmart and bought a bunch of them ($3 each).
