View Full Version : NEW BROWSER! Firefox 3! Y3a 06-18-2008, 06:09 PM I just downloaded the newest Firefox browser for my Mac (Eeeww! YOU own one of THOSE!) G5. Vastly better than any other browser. Fast! Ohio_Southpaw 06-18-2008, 06:17 PM Running it here as well on a Windows PC. I will never use IE again. Like Y3a said, she's fast and I love the add-ons you can get are great. Trek Ace 06-18-2008, 08:22 PM I, too, use Firefox. IE is nothing but a virus magnet. I have no such issues with Firefox. Carson Dyle 06-18-2008, 09:31 PM The Fox Rox. jheilman 06-18-2008, 10:03 PM Running version 2 on my Mac. Will have to check out 3. Thanks for the info. hankster 06-19-2008, 09:28 PM Code execution vulnerability found in Firefox 3.0 http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1288 Trekie2 06-19-2008, 09:56 PM Love Firefox...my IE keeps crashing!!! Hope they bring a patch for the vulnerability ASAP...but even with that I will still use FF over IE any day! Styrofoam_Guy 06-20-2008, 12:22 AM Just downloaded it to give it a go DR. PRETORIOUS 06-20-2008, 09:39 AM How much does it cost? Ohio_Southpaw 06-20-2008, 10:10 AM How much does it cost? Free. Go to Mozilla.org They also have a free email client called Thunderbird. DR. PRETORIOUS 06-20-2008, 10:32 AM thanks darkwanderer 06-20-2008, 12:12 PM IE 7, deleted it one week out it was so bad! That's when I switched, yet again, back to Foxfire. IE never again. Been using Foxfire 3 Beta for a couple of months. Love it. Downloaded the official version 5 minutes before midnight, becoming part of the eight million or so who thumbed their noses at Bill Gates and Microsoft. Next up, Linux Ubuntu. Old_McDonald 06-20-2008, 12:43 PM Could someone tell me what Firefox gives over IE? Other than speed, what plugins are included? what about compatibility with Java apps and oter third party apps? John P 06-20-2008, 02:51 PM Only that IE is of the Devil. :) I've needed a replacement for Netscape since they announced their demise. Firefox (Being Mozilla also) imported my Netscape bookmark file flawlessly. I'd been afraid I was gonna have to switch to IE, and have to slowly build my favorites all over (My Netscape bookmark file is 15 years old, with looootsa links!). But I switched over to Firefox and was browsing in just a few minutes. Jafo 06-20-2008, 03:33 PM i found i couldnt uninstall firefox and trying to get it to NOT worm it way thru most of my programs was maddening. Eric K 06-20-2008, 04:07 PM Never had any difficulties with anything like that Jafo. F91 06-21-2008, 01:16 AM I've been a FF user since the get go, but 3 is either still beta or the most buggy version yet. Safari seems like the most rock solid browser there is. Ohio_Southpaw 06-21-2008, 08:41 AM I tried Safari but got tires of the constant 'Apple Updater' wanting to install iTunes even though I don't have it, told it I don't want it and never intend to have it. F91 06-21-2008, 09:41 AM itunes will never be the same..... Y3a 06-23-2008, 08:00 AM 10.5.3 is impressive.... Magesblood 06-26-2008, 03:33 PM I can't see pics in Wikipedia like I used to before I upgraded to FF 3 Eric K 06-27-2008, 01:28 AM Some of those pics are ads that FF blocks. I see all other relevant material and pictures though. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
