As a new 1/32'er and could use some insights on adjusting magnets. I have about a dozen cars from most of the major brands. My preference is to adjust the magnets so that the cars perform realistically. I like Carrera's and Revell's approach; they adjust pretty easily and I can get exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm struggling with Scaley, Ninco, and Fly, though. What I thought I'd do is remove the magnet and hot glue it in a little higher to lessen the effect, but this hasn't been working out. In my Fly cars, there's very little clearance between the top of the magnet and the "drive shaft", which it wants to pull on greatly.

Is there a better way? Do they sell magnets shaped to fit some the predefined spaces that offer varying degrees of pull?

I've thought about weighting and better tires, but candidly, I don't understand what's involved there from a techinical or cost perspective and am not sure those approaches would be preferable to a refined approach to magnets.

Any insights will be appreaciated. Thanks.

Almost all the Ninco slot cars come with an 8 mm diameter magnet. To lessen the downforce, you can use a styrene shim(s) or cardstock to raise the magnet in the magnet pocket.

On cars that have a clearance problem and/or you would like to lessen the magnetic downforce even more, you can buy a thinner magnet that will fit the stock magnet pocket.
