Hi

I'm totally new to RC and would like to get a good quality rtr electric car to use just for fun on rough ground and in a grass paddock. I don't think I'll do any racing. So my main requirements would be fun to drive and low maintenance/durability

Although I prefer the styling of buggys, from what I have read so far, the extra ground clearance and stability of a truck is what i need

From the models availabile in the UK, I have narrowed down to 2 with brushless motors
Traxxus Rustler VXL
HPI E-Firestorm Flux
and 1 without
Associated RC10 T4

Any advice would be very much appreciated

go with the t4, its built by associated so you know its tough and as long as your just going fast on the road and in the grass you should be fine.

what ever you get make sure you go brushless thats the only way to go if your going electric. you also may want to make sure that its lipo ready

the speed t by losi is an awsome brushless with spektrum radio built in. And it has lipo cutoff built in to the speed control. it is realy fast and if you ever want to race it does real good at the track.

If you have not purchased yet... check out the E Maxx and E Revo too. Best bang for your buck in RC in my opinion.

Dj1978 hit the nail on the head, if you plan on any grass other than a golf course, I would strongly suggest a 4x4. Erevo looks like an excelent platform and If you decide to race, it should be competitive too.

The t4 is NOT tough as nails. The stock LRP ESC sucks. My motor temp was never above 164 degrees and the ESC died in under 2 wks. I only drive on a local track which has pretty small jumps (No bashing) and I usually break something every 2-3 days. I run about 4 3300mah packs daily (2am and 2 pm) The parts are inexpensive and easy to replace. I let a neighbor try the truck on the street, he hit the curb and the chassis snapped. (Not the trucks fault...it was my fault for letting my neighbor drive it)
I've upgraded to a Novak GTB ESC and brushless 10.5. My temps are super low. I absolutely love the truck and am glad I bought it....but to call it tough would be a lie.

If your bashing instead of racing I would concider the Rusty. If you might race, want a truck which can be upgraded, and dont mind replacing inexpensive parts frequently, get the T4
