KirtC 06-22-2008, 10:32 AM Put it in the books !!!
The first running of the 'Laps Along the Mohawk' at Master Hobbies has concluded in a huge success.
Despite a scary looking bunch of clouds that pounded the nearby village and areas over the river in the early afternoon and continuous radar loops that showed rain cells popping up to the west all night; the might vortex produced by the WDRA kept the storm systems limited to the Master Hobbies Clay Oval.
Thanks to Mike C., the master mind behind Master Hobbies for the event.
Special thanks to Todd and Jeff for their tireless work to get the surface ready from the heavy rains the days before. (When is the last time you saw a driveway packer at your local dirt track?) But you talk about a smooth surface!
Special thanks to all the racers that despite breaking their curfew traveled to participate in this event; we greatly appreciate your participation.
Thanks to Chrissy and 'Crew' for the good hot food!!
Sorry for the confusion with the main running order, but that was nothing compared to the issues we would have had if the PC with Autoscore had not booted (finally after 2 hours of anxiety)
Congrats to the winners, but remember there are no losers, only those that weren't "lucky' tonight. Where did all the Small Bocks come from...what a great field of cars!!
Thanks to the sprinter for filling your field and with being flexible for your main.
Goody's Headache award(s):
John Schulz; on a bump-up run in the Big Block B when he collects a stopped car in the middle of the back stretch at full sail.
Todd P has the Nitro field covered, thinking about where to spend Dave Louhead's $500 when he's collected in a wreck, pops the right front shock off the ball stud, manages to keep the field a lap or more down until he's collects again in other races mess in turn 2 and before he can get going in the right direction; the team car of Terry Schmitt sweeps by and take the win.
Many thanks to Kipps, Putnam Propulsion, and Mister Hobbies for their generous door prizes.
Up next....the WDRA heads to Joe's Hobby in Lockport NY on July 5th followed by the Big One....The Summer Nationals at Chico's on July 18-20
See Ya...................At The Track

Todd Putnam 06-23-2008, 11:33 AM What an awesome event!
Beautiful weather and blue skies set the stage for the 64 entries to go head to head on the Master Hobbies banked oval.
With practice starting at 2:00, the concern for how the racing surface would hold up quickly passed as the track was able to be kept moist and smooth. This is the only R/C dirt oval track I have ever raced at that has a double drum vibratory roller to smooth and compact the track surface-impressive!!!
Thanks to all who traveled to make this event a success. It was great to see my R/C family and friends-
Special thanks to all of the Putnam Propulsion customers and team guys for their continued support. Your efforts resulted in TQ's in EDM Small Block, EDM Big Block and EDM Nitro, then sweeping all 3 of these classes with A-Main wins as well.http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/images/smilies/thup.gif http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/images/smilies/checkeredflag.gif http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/images/smilies/trophy.gif
I will do a more in-depth results write up on our Manufacturer and Product Forum later.
A big thanks and applause to Mike Castelluccio and Todd Moran for an awesome facility, and Chrissy and Charles for the awesome concession stand that kept the tribes fed.
Special Thanks to Wally and Kirt for another well organized / well executed event. http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/images/smilies/thup.gif
