Can a large split in a primer bulb make this engine difficult to start and cause it to cut off shortly after starting? I believe there is already a small hole built into the tip of the bulb so it is not sealed anyway. This is a follow-up to a post from yesterday. Thanks Clay

yes because when the engine is running, that will allow it to suck more air than gas

Come on pyro, I thought we got past this, an air leak in front of the carburetor intake will not make a difference in the mixture! The primer circuit can be completely open and it WONT have any effect on the mixture, but since this is also the float bowl vent for the carburetor, if it's plugged the carburetor can flood and/or run rich.

Your absolutely correct, but there is a Tecumseh carburetor that also vents out the primer, but I don't see many of them. You would also be correct if it were a pulsa prime carburetor (Briggs Sprint type engines).
