Hello! I'm new to this site, and I need some help/information about some cars I have in my collection. I have a number of the RCCA 1/64th Legends cars that were sold back in 1992-93. Most of what I have are the 1963 Fords (26 all together, and I'm only missing the #21 Tiny Lund car with the white numbers on the roof plus the promo car for American Racing Classics magazine), and the 65 Fords (10 all together, 8 of the original series plus the Rusty wallace and Dale Jarrett "Cool Customs" from 1998), with 3 62 Pontiacs thrown in (Roberts, Pearson and (The Original Junior) Junior Johnson. The information I'm looking for is about the 65 Fords. (I was scanning through some of the messages posted and I see there are others here who collect the same cars.)

The information I'm looking for is about which cars are actually available. Most of the boxes the cars came in say "1 of 16". All the cars I have are on various lists I've found (Diecast Diegest and Beckets), but I have only been able to find, at most, 12 cars listed. The ones I have are #03 Reb Wickersham, #11 Ned Jarrett, #21 Marvin Panch, #24 Sam McQuagg, #28 Fred Lorenzen, #34 Wendell Scott (Sorry, no way I'm letting that one go!), #41 Curtis Turner, and #121 Dan Gurney. I'm missing #24 Bobby Allison, #27 A. J. Foyt, and #64 Elmo Langley, and only because I'm too cheap and am only willing to pay so much for a car on Ebay. And as I said, I also have two 65's from 1998 that where produced to look like Rusty's and Dale's cars from that year. Now, according to an issue of Beckets that I got in 2005, there is also #29 Dick Hutcherson car, but I have yet to see one anywhere, including Ebay and Go Motor Bids.

So, here is my questions. (1) Does that Dick Hutcherson car actually exist? And (2) What are the other four cars in the 65 Ford series? Or were these cars actually produced? I say that because recently, someone had a bunch of the 62 Pontiacs listed on Ebay, and the seller gave a complete list of those cars (the ones I have also have "1 of 16" on the boxes) and stated that 4 or 5 of the cars were never produced. Is this the case for the 65 Fords? I wonder about that as, for instance, A. J. never drove the #27 in 1965! He took that car over in 66 after Cale Yarbrough vacated it to go to the #21 Wood Brothers car later that year. A. J. did drive the #41 before Turner returned to racing late that year after his 1961 ban was lifted. he even won the Firecracker 400 at Daytona that year in that car. He also drove a "Double 0" car at Riverside that year and went for a wild ride near the end of the race. That's the crash that they show at the end of the movie "Redline 7000". And as I said, Cale Yarbrough drove the #27 in 1965, including at Darlington where "The Lady in Black" threw him right out of the place mid-way through the race! And "The Original Junior" drove both the #27 and the #26 that year.

So if anyone has any information about these 1/64th cars, i'd appriciate hearing from you

And no, I'm not a NASCAR historian. I'm just old enough to remember watching some of those races on the old ABC Wide World Of Sports show back then, and Fred Lorenzen was my first racing hero as a kid.

This information is great, thank you! It means I can stop racking my brains out trying to find diecasts that don't exist.

Now, saying that, do you have any information about the 63 Chevys, and 57 Chevy hardtops and convertibles? Like the other cars, these also have "1 of 16" on the boxes, but, as with the 65 Fords and 62 Pontiacs, I can only find partial lists. The list I have, from Diecast Digest, for the 63 Chevs only has 7 cars on it (Junior Johnson #3, G. C. Spencer #03, Rex White #4, Lee Roy Yarborough #71, and 3 with #13 on it: Johnny Rutherford, Buck Baker, and A. J. Foyt). I find it hard to believe there were only 7 out of 16 cars produced, but who knows, right? As for the 57's, the list I have shows 6 hardtops (#1 Neil Bonnet, #5 Tiny Lund, #16 Tom Pistone, #22 Fireball Roberts, #24 Larry Frank, and #76 Joe Lee Johnson) and 10 convertibles (#2 Jimmy Thompson and Speedy Thompson, #8 Elmo Langley, #22 Fireball Roberts, #47 Tiny Lund, #48 Possum Jones, #49 Bob Welborne, #76 Larry Frank, #77 Joe Lee Johnson, and #90 Emanuel Zervakis).

And one final question. I also have two 63 Fords that were sold in 1992 with the programs for the 92 Bristol races. One is #32 and has the name of the Bristol Speedway president back then and the other has #92 on it. The #32 car was from the spring race, and the #92 car from the late August race. These cars are in sealed blister packs and I haven't found any more of either or I'd just open the pack to remove the cars to my display case. So, did these two cars only come in blister packs, or has anyone seen them in like the same kind of box the Legend and Collector series' boxes? (I also have Larry Frank's #06 63 Ford in two versions, one from the Collector series, and the second one , in a blister pack, that was sold with the race program for the 1992 Southern 500. It saluted the 30th anniversary of his 1962 Southern 500)

Here is the run-down on the '57 Chevys in the "Legend" & "Collector" series:

1957 Chevrolet Convertible #2 Jimmy Thompson
1957 Chevrolet Convertible #47 Tiny Lund
1957 Chevrolet Convertible #48 Possum Jones
1957 Chevrolet Hardtop #1 Neil Bonnett
1957 Chevrolet Hardtop #5 Tiny Lund
1957 Chevrolet Hardtop #16 Tiger Tom Pistone
1957 Chevrolet Hardtop #22 Fireball Roberts
1957 Chevrolet Hardtop #24 Larry Frank
1957 Chevrolet Hardtop #77 Joe Lee Johnson

Collector Series (1993):

1957 Chevrolet Convertible #49 Bob Welborn
1957 Chevrolet Convertible #76 Larry Frank

1957 Chevrolet Convertible #90 Emanuel Zervakis

There were a total of 16 '57 Chevys produced between these two series:
10 Convertibles & 6 Hardtops.
All of the "Legends Series One" boxes state "Limited Edition 1 of 15,000" & "#1 of 16", but the cars were not individually numbered like the '62 Pontiacs were.

Moving on, here is the scoop on the '63 Chevrolets.

"Collector Series" (1993):
1963 Chevrolet #3 Junior Johnson
1963 Chevrolet #03 G.C. Spencer
1963 Chevrolet #4 Rex White
1963 Chevrolet #13 A.J. Foyt
1963 Chevrolet #13 Buck Baker
1963 Chevrolet #13 Johnny Rutherford
1963 Chevrolet #71 Lee Roy Yarborough

There were only seven '63 Chevrolets produced & they were all in this particular series.:)

There were actually four different series produced as follows:

1) "Legends Series" (1991): This series only had 1963 Fords.

2) "Collector Series" (1991): This series also only had 1963 Fords.

3) "Legends Series One" (1992): This series had 1957 Chevrolets (6 Hardtops & 4 Convertibles), 1962 Pontiacs & 1965 Fords. *The '62 Pontiacs were the only ones individually numbered 1 - 16, but the boxes for all four different cars stated "1 of 16"*

4) "Collector Series" (1993): This series had 1957 Chevrolets (6 Convertibles), 1962 Pontiacs, 1963 Chevrolets, & 1965 Fords. *The '62 Pontiacs were the only ones individually numbered 1 - 16*

If this is starting to sound confusing, it gets worse for the 1963 Fords. I have to get off the computor for awhile (BIG storm rolling in!!). I'll give you the scoop on the '63 Fords later after the storm passes.:)

I have 26 different 1963 Fords in my collection from both the "Legends" & "Collectors" series. As far as I can tell, I have all of them including variations of certain cars. Here is what I have:

"Legends Series" (1991):
#0 Dan Gurney
#0 Tiny Lund
#21 Tiny Lund (*Red painted roof number*)
#21 Tiny Lund (*Un-painted roof number*)
#22 Fireball Roberts (*Lt. Purple body w/Un-painted roof number*)
#22 Fireball Roberts (*Dk. Purple body w/Un-painted roof number*)
#28 Dan Gurney
#28 Fred Lorenzen
#29 Nelson Stacy
#34 Wendell Scott
#54 Jimmy Pardue
#57 Dick May
#66 Johnny Allen
#87 Curtis Turner
#92 "7th Annual Circle Track Magazine Trade Show February 12-14 1992" 15,000 Produced *This car comes in a window box the same as the above listed cars*

The following 3 cars come on a cardboard "blister" card in the "Legend" series:

1) #06 Larry Frank "30 Year Anniversary Super Speedway Series 1962-1992 Southern 500" (*This car has white wheels*) 10,000 Produced

2) #32 "Bristol International Raceway Food City 500 32nd Year Anniversary" (*This car has a white body*) 15,000 Produced

3) #92 "Bristol International Raceway Saturday Night Thunder August 29, 1992" (*This car has a black body*) 20,000 Produced

"Collector Series" (1991):
#06 Larry Frank (*This car has yellow wheels*)
#11 Ned Jarrett
#21 Marvin Panch
#22 Fireball Roberts (*Lt. Purple body w/Red painted roof number*)
#26 Curtis Turner
#31 Ralph Earnhardt
#52 Cale Yarborough
#54 Ralph Earnhardt

I have also seen some of these cars produced in both the 1991 "Legend" Series & the 1991 "Collector" Series. From what I have seen, there are no differences in the cars themselves, but some were produced in both series.

Well, I hope this information has been of help to you. Funny, you mentioned that you would not give up your 1965 Ford #34 Wendell Scott. Ironically, this is the only car that I am missing from all four of these series:)

There were also a number of 1983 Ford Thunderbirds produced in these series, but I don't collect that particular casting, so I don't have any info on those cars.:)

Thanks for the information. I'm still trying to land the 65 Fords of Bobby Allison, A. J. Foyt, and Elmo Langley. It's just a matter of time though. Oh, and I haven't been trying to get any of the 83-86 T-Birds either. And I've been thinking of trying to get the rest of the Pontiacs, and Chevs.

Now, I still have a few questions, primarily about the 63 Fords. You said that Larry Frank's car that came in the window box has white wheels? Both Frank cars I have, the one in the window box and the Southern 500 blister pack, have white wheels. Is this another variation? Also, though it's not a NASCAR stock car, I have one other 63, an NHRA super/Stocker. Ironically, it has LaFayette Ford on the side, but it's a red car and the driver is Phil Bonner. And I think there's another one too, driven by Dave Banner. Not sure about that one though. Can you confirm this?

And as I mentioned in my first post about the 65's, I have two others that were released under the "Winner's Circle" series in 1998. They are called "Cool Customs" and are painted up like Rusty Wallace's and Dale Jarrett's cars of that year. I also have 4 56 Fords that I guess were based on Earnhardt's K-2 car. They are Wallace and Jarrett, plus Jeremy Mayfield and Kenny Erwin. Would they have also made Mayfield's and Erwin's cars in the 65 car also? And given that, I know they did several variations of Junior's cars, Senior's cars and Jeff Gordon's cars in the 57 Chev hardtop and convertible, as well as in 63 Chevs, would they also have done the Wallace, Jarrett, Mayfield and Erwin cars in 63 Fords? I have never come across them, so I'm thinking no.

Sorry to keep asking these questions, but i'm just wondering about how much searching I have to do. But then again, that's half the fun of collecting.

The Phil Bonner 1963 Ford was part of a series of cars from "Action Platinum Series Racing Collectables". Currently, I have 4 of these cars in my collection & the castings appear to be the same as from the "RCCA Legends" series. Here is what I have so far:
1) 1962 Pontiac "Arnie Beswick"
2) 1963 Ford "Phil Bonner"
3) 1963 Chevrolet "Dave Strickler"
4) 1963 Chevrolet "Dyno Don Nicholson"
I have heard of another '60's NHRA car from this series but have never actually seen one: a 1965 Dick Landy Dodge:confused:

sorry to be so long in responding to your replys! Thank you for the photos. This is a great reference. There aren't as many of these cars as I thought. Again, thank you for the information! There is a collectible show this Sunday (July 6th) in Woodstock, Ontario, so i'll be on the look-out for the couple I'm still missing. And too, there's Indy for the Brickyard 400 in about 3 weeks too (Go Edwards! Go, Kenseth! Go, Biffle! Go, McMurray! Go, David Ragan!). Sometimes there's vendors in tents outside the track who are selling older stuff. I always find a few old cars at the tracks (as well as a few of the new ones I'm looking for too!).
