I only use new Tomy sorry sltCARsimpleton 06-12-2008, 06:16 AM what is so bad about old aurora flex track?, no chance of drifting? wheel catch between the "ribs"? -simpleton joez870 06-12-2008, 06:39 AM I remember the old flex track. (we called it "The Oiler") Good concept, bad in the 3D world. I had a chunk. All of those little track slices meant that there were little spaces between them. Very poor traction in any kind of turn with my Tjets and magnas. It was like oil on a curve. Our cars would just spin away. A guy on the Ebay was selling his custom (partially landscaped) layout built ENTIRELY out of flex track a couple of years ago. It had banks, hills and sweepers. It had dips, straights and esses. He never finished it. Draw your own conclusions. I know *I* will never own another flex track. (magnets or no.) John Shortsleev 06-12-2008, 09:17 PM Joez870, Thanks very much for the info. Guess I won't be buying any flex track anytime soon. John Peacefield 06-16-2008, 10:19 AM I actually remember my flextrack experience differently. It came with a set I bought in the 1970's that came with G cars: I think the black Andretti and yellow Penzoil Indy cars. I liked the concept of the track as it allowed a lot of flexibility in layout design, but I found it not too slipperty, but too grippy. What would happen is the magnets wouldn't force the car down to the track, the track would come up and drag on the car. At that time, I was just running on carpeted floor; don't know how it would've worked on a table with the track glued or nailed down. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
