View Full Version : Mid-Week Tune up @ Hangtimes
Hangtime 06-09-2008, 04:16 PM We are running Wednesday evenings after 6:30. No cost & electric, water & lighting provided. Small track, big fun. Mostly electric, some nitro. kinda small for 1/8. 1/10 & 1/18 run mostly. No racing, just test & tune.
I'm near blossom music center. PM me if interested. We have a nice group of hobby enthusiasts. Here is a pic of Nicks rally car.

NickRummy 06-10-2008, 10:25 AM I'll be there tomorrow HT!
Like Ht said, it's a great time to get tuned in and just get some wheel time. Seems like there is always someone there with 1 vehicle from about any class which makes it interesting. We've had (3) 1/8th scales on it before and that was very interesting. A bit small to really open them up much and lots of tire rubbing. It's really nice for 1/0th scale and it stays interesting. It's be perfect for 1/18th.
Here are a few photos and videos showing what he has together out there. It's a really nice setup. These are a little outdated but you get the idea.

Hangtime 06-12-2008, 01:49 PM Thanks to everyone who showed last night. I had a blast running electrics. It was cool to get the fluff worked up on the track. It made for some neat rooster tails & traction was great. I can't wait to try the Slash trucks out there. See you next week. HT
Hangtime 06-18-2008, 11:13 PM I should have my B4 back next week. The new crossover is pretty cool. Thanks all for coming tonight. Nick should be back next week with some cruise stories.
Rudy - I didn't get my pliers back. I'll check the pit table.
Hangtime 06-23-2008, 10:30 AM This week we may have four maybe five Slashes running along with regular classes. I have to say the renewed interest in electric is catching on. I'm getting a lot of use out of my B4 & 18b & now the slash. See you Wednesday. Cheers!
NickRummy 06-23-2008, 10:35 AM Who is showing this wednesday HT? You guys can fit 4-5 slashes on that track?

Hangtime 07-16-2008, 10:45 AM Great! I may have the T4 tonight, but I for sure will have the Slash. I've rebuilt it again with a change of diff fluid, so we'll hope for a improvement. Nick did you get your Slash?
I did some track prep last night & sweep it down. We'll give it a good watering tonight so it will be good to go!
Hangtime 07-18-2008, 12:44 PM Good time weds. The track was hooked up, My T4 was hooked up. I haven't had a truck in a year or so & it was cool.
The Slashes were fun. Mine is apart again. Its getting rear hinge pins & another diff rebuild. I found a good deal on alum shock caps although I was the only truck that didn't pop one off! ;) HT
Oh, Welcome back Natalie!
NickRummy 07-18-2008, 01:04 PM It was hard to refrain from opening mine up!
HT, any thought on extending that turn by the crossover out a couple feet so there is a landing before or going into the turn? That landing pad is quit small!

Oh yea, I've had plenty of thoughts about it but unfortunately my thoughts haven't been able to move any dirt. hahahaaaa
When my buddy with the machine comes over that is part of the plan.
NickRummy 07-18-2008, 03:40 PM oh cool! I wasn't sure what you were planning on having done with the machine. (I'm sure you've told me 100 times)
Hangtime 07-22-2008, 11:34 AM Ok, I'm getting the machine thursday evening so, I could use some other ideas on the lay out. I kinda have a plan to stick to, but that could change if I hear something better.
Also, I have some extra handtools if someone will help face the lanes. We will be using a small backhoe so he will rough it out & we will clean up after.
Last week I stayed late to adjust the lights a bit & trim some branches to get better light coverage for when the days start getting shorter we can still run.
I'm looking forward to running this Weds in the evening when its cooler.
later, Rick
NickRummy 07-22-2008, 06:39 PM Not sure I can make it tomorrow HT but I might be down for coming out thursday. I can give you a hand getting the track runnable.

Hangtime 07-23-2008, 06:18 PM Rain! Rain! Rain! its been pouring for the last hour or so. We won't be running tonight. We will try it again next week. Rick
TangTester 07-23-2008, 06:26 PM nice track
Hangtime 07-24-2008, 08:25 AM No go on the machine tonight. Joe has a family thing so we'll make it next week.
What night is good for everyone? lmk & i'll get back with him on when.
Thanks Tang, You ready for some dirt??
NickRummy 07-24-2008, 08:42 AM wednesday or thursday is cool with me next week.
You wouldn't be able to still run tonight would you HT? I know it's usually wednesdays but I wouldn't mind getting in some slash run time tonight if at all possible. I'll bring electrics only
TangTester 07-24-2008, 06:05 PM Back in the day I was very good at dirt. Won many races at the begining of the staidium truck thing in the early 90's. Tried running is a few years ago, then I remember why I quit dirt racing...too much work! LOL
Hangtime 07-25-2008, 11:25 AM Aah the good old days...brushed motors, spring tension, silver brushes, motor cleaner, SCR nicads, 7 cell paks, regular shock oils. frequency clips, 24" antenna wire. volt meters....Can't say I miss any of it. lol
Things are much easier now with maintenance free brushless motors, lipos & such.

Hangtime 07-31-2008, 09:48 AM ok hopefully I can make it on thursday but I know I'm in wednesday!
What happened Weds?
We are a go tonight with the machine. Joe will be a little later about 7. Will want some help after that. It shouldn't take long to do. Thanks
NickRummy 07-31-2008, 10:09 AM I had to bail. Having some issues with the dakota..... :(
I'll most likely be working on it tonight. Trying to find a wiring problem.
NatalieMorgan 07-31-2008, 08:37 PM Sorry Rick just got home from work, had a day from hell in barberton.
Nat
Hangtime 07-31-2008, 09:02 PM Any day in barberton is hell! lol
No problem It'll still be here tomorrow. Joe just left about 1/2 hour ago. Got most of it pretty well dug up. Got a new slash style jump on the front straight. top side has a higher level & the end by the tree got a lot of extra dirt.
NickRummy 07-31-2008, 11:04 PM Sounds good! I'm going to try and schedule time out there next week. My schedule has been so spur of the moment lately.
Hangtime 08-07-2008, 01:30 PM Good time last night! Thanks for coming over. So, pizza & beer next week? :woohoo:
If I can get Ron's front loader over I'm thinking about extending the track over to the firepit. Basically just turn the whole track 90deg. We could stand behind the tree looking north in the shade. It would be much bigger. Nice long straight. I'm open to suggestions. HT
NickRummy 08-07-2008, 03:09 PM I'm not sure about this coming wednesday or not. A friend of mine is talking about going out to Medina to practice. I might go out there. We definitely need to do pizza and beer next time out though!
As for the track layout. It was pretty sweet. I'm still not quit a fan of the landing on the crossover and the hill before the crossover jump.
When you say down to the fire pit what do you mean? I've attached a layout. You mean like this? Sorry it's rough but you get the idea....

I mean a whole new layout the straight being east - west connecting at where we now stand. Then stand looking north toward the woods. Kind of a right triangle. From the pines to the fire pit, back around the woods up to the old turn one. eliminate the area of the crossover.
NickRummy 08-07-2008, 03:42 PM Hmmm we'll have to meet up and chat
