Guys,
I screwed up; I cemented the Flying Sub bay door shut on the lower bow portion a couple of days ago, and now I lament that error (). The lower bow has not yet been cemented to the forward hull.
What is the best method of removing it without destroying either part? I did a very thorough job of cementing all 4 edges, using testors red tube.

Freeze the parts? Use an exacto and scribe your way through the glue?

Thanks; I'll try freezing the parts overnight tonight, and try pushing it out tomorrow morning.
I already thought of the x-acto scribing, but fear damaging the parts. Once I get them apart, I'll sand off the dried cement.

I was gonna say freezing, too. How about the cans of compressed air? I seem to remember using a can of compressed air to freeze chewing gum for easy removal from carpeting.

Hmmmm...would it work on hair, too?

last ditch but you will loose paint. easy off oven cleaner spray. Spray in the easy off into plastic baggie and seal the part in the bag check after a hour or two to see if the glue is brittle enough to pop off.. but you will loose any paint you have on all parts in the bag also.

good luck

Thanks, and I'm lucky that the parts aren't even primered yet. Seeing as I don't own a can of Easy Off, I'm going to use the "freezing method' tonight anyway. If that doesn't work, a treatment of Easy Off spray will be Plan B.

Interesting plan. I'd expect everything to be more brittle though, so be careful.

That's what I'm afraid of, so I'll go with plan B and get a can of easyOff after work tonight.

I think your scribing idea might be the best one. Easy Off won't unglue welded (melted) plastic. Once it's welded, it's welded.

Yeah, it's melded AND welded alright; I did too good a job of it. :(
Oh, well, I'll just work around it and know better for my second build. ;)
