The artwork is generally stunning and some items appear in colours that either didnt make it into full production or were very limited releases- 2 great reasons to enjoy Lesney catalogs:thumbsup:.
I dont own many catalogs, but I do have most of the ones from 1968-74 which are the main focus of my Matchbox collection.
Here are a few of my favourite pages- do you have any favourite pages o share?
Firstly the G box art which I like above all others, and the panel to the right including an orange Superfast Mack Dumper which was in fact only issued in lime green, the crane truck in regular wheels colours fitted with Superfast wheels (also never made it into production) and my favourite Lesney casting, the 25 Ford Cortina which appears to have been copied from a real Ford brochure photo and features a 4 door car whereas the Lesney casting always had only 2 doors

Here is the Switch-a-track featuring many cars with gift set stickers, plus a very rare solid green Ford Group 6 and also a later dark metallic green version and proof that Lesney used up orange rw canopies for the no 1 & 2 Mercedes truck & trailer alongside the new yellow ones (although whether yellow canopies ever left the factory on green rw issues is not proven either way)

The text here is translated into Norwegian, one of the harder to find foreign issues.I remember seeing some of these giftsets in stores, and always wanted but never received the BP service station. The Pink colour trial team Matchbox looks very smart in the colour that served its predecessor, the 34 Ferrari Formula 1 so well, although light metallic blue doesnt ;)

I love the old Superfast box artwork. It's so late 60's/70's in a very cool way.

Here is my favorite pages from my favorite catalogue. It came to my collection this year by trading with a norweigian VW collector.

The Matchbox catalogue is from 1960 - acording to my kids, very, very old as it was the same year I was born

This catalogue is twice the size of the catalogues that came later, and shows the 1-75 cars in 1:1

The #70 Thames Estate Car never came out in the colour pictured.

Enjoy

I am enjoying ! Very nice pic Karl:thumbsup: You have all the models to go....cream canteen is not common at all,i dont have one yet...I have never seen this catalog before and never seen a photo of a red 70 Thames. This is a very good effective way to do a catalog, and even in 2008 TRAX in Australia show their 1/43 cars and 1/76 buses and trucks life size scale in their catalogs on a white background.
I will buy one if or when I see a 1960 catalog
