View Full Version : I love friday Nights..
coach61 06-07-2008, 05:27 AM i stood casually against the rail speaking with a friend off duty from the Denton Fire Dept. who happened to be on the docks. suddenly we heard a very very loud splash..yes you guessed it Text messageing while driving is not just a bad idea its friggen stupid...While after having to swim in the filthiest lake in the Dallas Area ( lewisville ) I have come a conclusion...YEs Pressure will keep a door closed till you hit about 22 feet under water.. you can not see 6 bloody inches in the lake.. and all cars should have luggage racks on top so you have something to hold onto so you don't loose sight of it on the way down, down,down.. ( 34 feet total.) and you can hear a women scream under water.. I really wish people would learn I only do this job to check out potential candidates for Bobs new shop posters. That was my fun for the night...Oh and ya.. take off your phone before ya jump in.. seems they don't like getting wet...
And the wet head is not dead....and the Young lady is fine...just a few cuts and scrapes when her windshield broke. Oh 2007 Jeep Grand Cheeroke for sale.. only driven to the lake...

Once, needs windshield.
Textmessaging is the latest thing for the American youth to waste their time on, I called to have any text messages and or pictures blocked from coming into my phone.
joez870 06-07-2008, 09:50 AM Dang!
Bless you real good for being there, Coach! You are a good man!
The Lady better do something sweet for you....like buy you a few dozen slot cars or something!
Will she ever text and drive again? Makes me wonder. Hurrmmmm....
jeremy1082 06-07-2008, 10:03 AM Drivers are the same in Canada....they would rather die than pay attention to their driving.
bobhch 06-07-2008, 10:23 AM It drives me nuts that people talk and drive on their cell phones....aaaaaaaaaah (nuff said)... That gal is lucky Coach was on the job. Nice job man. :)
NOTE: Bob...zilla does not own a cell phone, doesn't need one or want one EVER! Well necessity will make it happen some day I am sure...oh dang!
Bob...Knock, knock...who's there...Dwain...Dwain who...Dwain the tub I am drowning...zilla

I know Jeremy I am a displaced Canuck..lol.. but at least the Canucks had the decency to make it illegal to not go hands free.. ( lot of U.S. states have now also.. ) and Bob I doubt she will text anytime soon while driving as one she has no car, and i doubt her phone works any better then mine after going into the lewisville soup...good news is just got from Verizon and they gave me a knew phone No charge when I explained what happened.. that was pretty cool...

tjettim 06-07-2008, 12:08 PM Was she wearing a seat belt?
Was she wearing a seat belt?
Goggles and a wet suit seems more appropriate. JK
Glad to here she alright and good job Coach.
SplitPoster 06-07-2008, 05:21 PM Coach, hope that young lady knows she had a guardian angel riding with her, must have arranged for you to be there too - great to hear, great job. High school student killed here a couple years back, she was texting while driving about a mile from school just after 3 one afternoon. Hope more learn from this, a you tube video of car being pulled out of water with explanation would be nice.
bumpercar88 06-07-2008, 05:49 PM Ah come on coach get to the good stuff, how many tickets did you write her? I hope at least one for polluting the lake! Excellent job, stay safe brother.
1976Cordoba 06-07-2008, 07:57 PM Was she good lookin'? Did she have a white T-shirt on? Was it chilly in the water? We need some more details here!:devil:
jeremy1082 06-07-2008, 10:02 PM Here in Ontario it still is not illegal. In New York State it is (and should be). I was behind one ditzy bitch on the highway the other day who was doing a good 20 under the limit (on the highway!) and weaving....you guessed it...texting while driving. I sure hope the text message was ohhh so important because the danger that she was creating for herself and everybody around her sure wasn't (to her anyway). Her driving was very simmilar to a drunk. This is perfectly legal, but try driving 10 over the limit on a clear road on a sunny day when the cops need money....then they will go on about the increadible danger you are posing and how it has nothing to do with how easy and profitable it is to slap you with a speeding ticket. As for me, I save my speeding for the (HO) track (but I NEVER talk on the phone or text while slotting!).
bumpercar88 06-07-2008, 11:25 PM What is so important? What are these people talking about that is so important? If your not advising a junior surgeon on a heart transplant or brokering a never ending peace treaty in the Middle East get off the dang gone phone. You're not that important, your conversation isn't important enough to endanger the rest of us. (That's still one heck of a job coach!)
rudykizuty 06-08-2008, 08:27 AM bump,
You're right. It's not important. They only think it's important. Unfortunately, nine times out of ten, that perception wins. Stupid, but true.
Good work, coach. This Bud's for you!!
jeremy1082 06-08-2008, 11:37 AM Nothing says "I don't care about anybody else but myself" more than yapping on a cell phone or texting while driving. The funny thing is that it is usually the ones who do it that say they never do or that it does not affect their driving. Guess what, morons...it does and it affects everybody else's driving too.
Keep up the great work, Coach!
win43 06-08-2008, 12:44 PM Coach,

Ahh you have been to Lake Lewisville kind of has that mid 70's love cannel fragrance too it lol..several studies have been done.. taking on a cell phone while driving is the equivelent of 4 beer...texting that I bet would be out of reach but one is ok...make ya wonder why I get called Redneck somedays because I do not believe in freedom to be stupid lol...
Dave
roadrner 06-08-2008, 07:50 PM Dave,
Great job, but nothing less that I'd expect from you.:thumbsup:
The thing that still kills me is the number of WOMEN (allright girls calm down) I see come out of their office from work and get in the car either with their cell phone at their ear or call someone the same time they start the car. What's funny is most of them are calling someone they just left work with. I know, my wife and I carpool. Within the first mile, her phone rings if she isn't on it, and it's some coworker. :freak:
I don't answer cell calls in the car, period. rr
