New at this, but interested in starting to collect some diecasts of my favorite drivers. What should I look for? Should I stick to the certain size? Certain manufacturer? Should they still be in their box? Any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated.

It all depends on how deep your pockets are as well as who your favorite drivers might be. The cost issue can be addressed by retail versions (Winner's Circle Brand) found at Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc. Higher priced more detailed versions can be found through NASCAR diecast dealers (which there are many and have the best deals) GOracing.com, or RCCA.
Your favorite drivers too, dictate what you can collect. If you are after anything other that Jr., Stewart, Gordon, etc. you will be few and far between with the special schemes. If you go with the 1/64 scale you will be limited even more.
I'd recommend you join our website www.diecastwarrior.com (Diecast Warriors). There are a bunch of guys that could answer your questions better and give you tips on what's available. I collect ONLY the DODGE teams and Petty, so my advice here is limited.
