This summer Redneck RC will once again be racing outdoors in Oswego NY...but not at the sports complex as we did the previous two summers. Local racer Terry Thompson stepped up and provided us with some property at an office building he owns. Currently, a 100x60 dirt oval is being constructed. Infact, the clay is just waiting to be spread. We have acquired the same exact clay that is used at Chico's, so drivers who have raced there previously should have a good idea of how the surface will be. As we have for the previous 2 summers, we will be racing Thursday nights. There will be plenty of power provided, food available, a selection of parts on hand (racing items mostly). Classes we will be running are as follows:
Small Block EDM (27T Motors)
Big Block EDM (19T Motors)
Big Block Modified
Trucks
Sprints
Mini Sliders
Mini Latemodels
As always, we will be following WDRA Rules. We will also continue to use Ifmar starts for qualifying, as we feel it cleaned up the racing in qualifying tremendously. Entry fees will be still be $8. Track will open at 5pm for practice with racing starting at 7PM. We will run 2 rounds of qualifying (4 min. ea) with 4 min. Features w/ bumps.
I will have an exact address and first race date ASAP. The plan was to have the track finished this past weekend however there was a problem getting equipment to spread the clay. Also, Terry has told me the street address had just been changed, so the address he had given me is no longer valid. For the local racers, it is located approx. 1/4 down Country Rt 29 from State Route 104 in Scriba, NY (Approx. 5 miles North of the City of Oswego). Again, there will be plenty of parking, plenty of place to pit, plenty of power available, food, parts, etc.
Also, an Offroad track will be constructed, which will feature racing on Friday Nights. Classes and start time will be posted as soon as that has been decided.
