View Full Version : Trains and Lanes 2008 Dash for Cash Point Series Race
tenpins77 06-03-2008, 11:26 AM SO as im sure all of you have heard one way or another, we will be having our 1st annual Trains and Lanes Dirt Bowl, July 19th (electric) and July 20th (nitro).
To keep us in the swing of things till then, starting next week, June 8th 2008, I will be running a 5 week point series till July 19th, get it(Dash for cash) With us taking a break June 22nd (aka not running). The series will end July 13th. Im hoping to get 5 solid weeks in, but who knows what the weather will decide to do.
Classes are as follows:
Electric:
2wd Buggies
2wd Trucks
4wd Buggies
1/8th scale Buggies, if theres less than 4 entrys for 8th electric they will run with nitro)
Nitro Classes:
1/10th 2wd Trck
1/8th Buggie
1/8th Truggie
Points will be reedy style, ex the lower your points the better off you are.
1st place 0 pts
2nd Place 1 pts
3rd Place 2 pts
4th Place 3 pts
5th Place 4 pts
etc.
Top qualifier in each division will receive -1 pt, and those with perfect attendance, all five weeks will receive a -2pt bonus at the end of the series.
So if you figure out the math, this gives everyone a shot at placing. (yes like golf, you can finish with -minus points) Top 3 spots in each division will receive Trains and Lanes Race Bucks. Payout will be divided over prize fees from each division over the five weeks.
Continued in next post
tenpins77 06-03-2008, 11:27 AM The point series will take place for the next five racing weeks, we will not be running just practice days, or break your car in days , regardless of the amount of people who show for each class per week. Think about it, if your looking to run 2wd and theres only two entry's for that week, you have a 50/50 shot at taking TQ -1 points and a 50/50 shot at getting away with 0 points. Once again prize fee will be split up throughout all the classes so even if theres 2 entrys per class, we can still give out race bucks.
I hope this can be fun for everyone, and get everyone in the mood to run our "Dirt Bowl".
See you Sunday,
tim stuart

tenpins77 06-03-2008, 11:28 AM to clear up up any confusion about no shows
the top three weeks will be rounded together, unfortunately you must race at lease three weeks to be eligible for points/cash.

TamiyaTimNJ 06-05-2008, 12:48 AM Hi Tim,
I'll be coming down to race with you guys on Sunday. I just bought an RC8 and electric conversion kit, motor, etc, so my funds are kinda tight. I was just wondering if the race fees are still going to be $15/$10? Thanks.
Tim M.
tenpins77 06-05-2008, 02:51 PM oh yeah, you bet man, you will only see an increased entry fee with our Dirt Bowl, but thats going to be a bigger cash race? Were you able to get the Dash for cash details in the email?

Ok, cool.
Yup. I got the e-mails and thanks for the info. I'll do my best to get down there for the dirtbowl too. Say, do you think there'll be enough 2wd mod truck entries on Sunday? I know 2 of us who will be coming down, hopefully you'll have a few more there too.
Also hope to see you guys come up to our track sometime soon.

tenpins77 06-06-2008, 11:03 AM mod truck, i know two guys who have one, that will most likely be there. i can see running a class for you guys though, we need at lease 4 entrys. I know i wont be able to run my buggy this week, because its somewhere in england now, haha, sold it on ebay for a new one. But like i said, its a point series race so as long as you run 3 out of the 5 weeks, the amout of people who show up per week wont really affect anything. Since your essentially racing for your own points. And like i had mentioned before, if theres three guys running a class, it benefits you that week because the worst you could do is take third and get 2 points?
see you sunday, it looks like its going to be a hot one?
How far is Dirtrunners from trains and lanes? Do they normally have a mod buggy class???

Ok, cool. Say, how's your track since the last time I was there? Have you guys smoothed it out at all? I don't mind either way, I just want to get an idea for my initial set-up.
Dirtrunners is about an hour and a half from you tops. It's a real smooth trip if you take 78 to 287 north. Our mod 1/10 buggy class is always popular and usually has at least 6 or 7 entries. Mod truck even more so, sometimes having a B main. And then there is 1/8 buggy and truggy and they generally have a B and C main with bump ups. We also have a large, smooth, hard packed, banked oval and run all sorts of gas and electric classes on it. Total entries so far seems to be +/- 100 so far this season. You can see the classes we run, results and track records on our website http://www.dirtrunners.com We also have a refreshment stand selling burgers and dogs off of the grill, sodas and stuff, snacks, etc
We've been doing some *major* upgrades on the track and the facilities in general, so I expect the turnout to get even bigger as the word spreads.
I'm looking forward to running with you guys again on Sunday. Yeah, it's gonna be a scorcher. I'm definitely bringing the canopy.

tenpins77 06-08-2008, 02:13 AM hey, tim, i know its late however the track is a little bit smoother than before. Perhaps drop about 5 on whatever shock oil you were running before ex. 35 go to 30. etc. Keep the same springs. As much as we would love to have a smooth track, by making it a little on the rough side, gives the 8th scale guys a challenge too. I know i cant wack the throttle on my b4 comming down the straight, because all i need to do is hit a rut and off i go.
Yup, i hear its going to be a hot one as well. See you in a few,
tim
TamiyaTimNJ 06-08-2008, 10:13 PM Tim,
Thanks for another fun day of racing and for all your hard work to make it happen. Stick with it and it will grow. I hope to see you up at our place this coming Sunday.
Tim M.
TamiyaTimNJ 06-10-2008, 09:59 AM Looks like Barnstormers is closed this Sunday because Lou and Chris will be racing in Rome, NY. Some of the regulars from the Barn will be coming down to Dirt Runners, so the turnout should be HUGE with lots of exciting, wheel-to-wheel racing on a very fast track. Tell as many people as you can, Tim. This could turn out to be an epic raceday. :woohoo:
Tim M.
Track_Master 06-17-2008, 12:36 AM Hey Tim,
It's me, Tim M. with a new screen name now that I've taken over the "Track Master" duties here at Dirt Runners. Sorry you couldn't make it up to race with us yesterday. It was an epic day with a HUGE turnout on a VERY fast track.
So anyway, how's this Sunday shaping up @ Trains & Lanes? Any idea of how many 1/10 buggies and trucks might show up? Also, I might just have my RC8 ready to go by Sunday, so I'm planning on running all 3 classes like Mark did last time. Speaking of which, how's your new buggy coming along? Gonna be ready for Sunday?
dirtdemon 06-17-2008, 11:14 AM Tim i think theres on road there this week and its big so no offroad but im not 100% but your good take your TC5.
tenpins77 06-17-2008, 01:24 PM Tim i think theres on road there this week and its big so no offroad but im not 100% but your good take your TC5.
Ummmmmmmmm:freak::confused:
Im going away for the week, chris however has volunteered to run the race, so you will be racing. Looks like i wont be getting my buggy till the 28th or 29th. Needed new brakes on my car :cry::cry::cry:
Im sure it will be the same turnout as usual? No one else that runs electric decides to join us:cry:
tim s
Track_Master 06-17-2008, 02:23 PM Hmmm.. That kinda sux. I was planning on running the TC5 at Cruizin' on Saturday and then running offroad at T&L on Sunday. The thing is that Cruizin is also running onroad on Sunday, and I'd hate to make the trip to Easton, use up the gas, wind up not being able to race due to lack of entrants, AND miss out on the 2nd day of onroad racing at Cruizin'.
But at the same time, I want to do all I can to support the racing at T&L cause the people are good, I like the track & the store AND it'd be a damn shame to see yet another offroad track just up and die on us. (Walcott, Marshall's, etc)
On the other hand, considering the unbearable heat we had last Sunday at T&L, the turnout was actually decent, so hopefully that bodes well for this Sunday. Don't mind me. I'm just thinking out loud. I'll make some calls and send some messages and see if I can scrape up some more guys to race with us at T&L Sunday.
How about you, Ryan? Maybe "Johnson Boyz Racing" makes the trip to Easton Sunday? I'll probably have my RC8 ready and Mark will probably want to run his 8ight too.
Tim M.
tenpins77 06-18-2008, 10:15 AM yup, sounds good, like i said before, chris will be up there should be a nice turnout? :woohoo:
Hows the weather looking ?
JeepGuyNJ 06-18-2008, 11:31 AM I think I'm going to check out the racing Sunday with you guys. Anything I need to bring..such as my EZUp? Is power supplied or should I bring stuff for that??
Track_Master 06-18-2008, 02:42 PM I think I'm going to check out the racing Sunday with you guys. Anything I need to bring..such as my EZUp? Is power supplied or should I bring stuff for that??
They have power onsite, but bring an extension cord incase all the spots by the fence (where the receptacles are located) are taken when you get there. Also bring an onroad car to mess around with if you have one prepped. They have a freshly resurfaced asphalt oval right next to the offroad track and you don't want to miss out on that. It's schweeet!
tenpins77 06-19-2008, 12:50 PM hey tim,
not to discourage you or bring down this great forum, however most of us trains and lanes guys post on the trinity tech talk forum, its tough for me having to bounce around to three all the time,
heres the link,
same setup as this forum,
http://techtalk.teamtrinity.com/tt/showthread.php?t=13968
also, this weekend should be one of our best so far. Theres at least three other guys showing up to run electrics, plus Chris will be there running his stuff, this stinks, we could have our best weekend so far and i wont be there :(
Track_Master 06-19-2008, 11:02 PM Oh, I totally understand, Tim. I'm just trying to get the Dirt Runners regulars who post here on Hobby Talk to come on down to T&L. Yeah, looks like it could be a good turn out on Sunday. It's a shame you're gonna miss it. :-( I'm gonna check out the Trinity forum now.
tenpins77 07-03-2008, 12:53 PM hey tim, i think you will be pleased, Chris, Rob and I have been putting alot of work into the track. We dragged the track with an i beam yesterday, and chris will be continuing today took 90% of all the rutts out of the straightaway, which means you can auctually get on the throttle in the straights. Plus ill be out there tomorrow and saturday morning working on jumps, etc.. so we should have a nice track to run on sunday, the weather report is a chance of thunderstorms, but as far as now were still running, just giving you the update,
tim
