Usually cars come in even numbered sets, correct?
Is there a 4th car that completes this set?

Grandcheapskate 06-03-2008, 09:22 AM No. In fact, what makes you think those cars came in sets? The Pennzoil and Budweiser cars did come in a boxed twinpack. The Pennzoil only came in a twinpack with the Budweiser (8985M) or Miller #9 (8987). The Budweiser also came as a single. The Valvoline car came by itself and also in a twinpack package with a stop watch. Thanks...Joe jstudrawa 06-03-2008, 09:46 AM No. In fact, what makes you think those cars came in sets? Also, I figured they may be a set from a track, like the 4 SG+ in the Super Int'l or the 2 in the Long Beach, etc. I was hoping the 3 here were from a box with track and those come in 4's or 2's of which I was figuring 3 would be part of the 4, and they had destroyed or sold the 4th as a rare (like the http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130226946206&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT&ih=003 Marlboro car). Sorry, didn't feel like going into my circular logic in the first post. But now that I look closer, it seems the Valvoline and the Pennzoil are the same type of car while the Budweiser is slightly different? You're welcome, Joe. And thanks for the info :) Edit: Forgive the smart ass, too much coffee this morning. I appreciate the information greatly. sethndaddy 06-03-2008, 09:32 PM that Pennzoil car is the later released one too, the earlier one came in a set (race track) with a light blue stp indy, and the twin pack with the miller. (I wish I would have found as many of those sets as I did the Kraco/Dominoes sets, geez). PD2 06-04-2008, 08:22 AM I actually have one from back in the day that is not in the group you have. Not sure if it was part of a two pack that I bought when I was a kid, but, it is black and gold and has TYCO on the fin. I have the Budweiser car too and had gotten this black and gold one. I'm traveling right now, but can post up pics of the car when I get back on Friday if you are not sure which one I'm talking about. PD2:thumbsup: jstudrawa 06-04-2008, 08:30 AM Thanks guys! I'm just trying to get 4 of each kind of car to use as loaners, on the cheap. Tho last night I found out what happens with a 7 year old and a Pennzoil car. Will super glue work on the front spoiler? :( dlw 06-04-2008, 09:14 AM PD2, the black Tyco Indy car you're speaking of....Is it the #1 Tyco? That car is a mail-away promo car. How about the Nigel Mansell K-Mart car? It came in a twin-pack with a team semi truck.... shooter8115 06-04-2008, 09:22 AM here are some pics of what Indy car I have to give you and idea what you can look for . ScottD961 06-04-2008, 09:32 AM jstudrawa , Yes you can use regular old super glue on the front spoiler. I have repaired several bodies that I got used buy cutting the nose of some junkers and attaching them to these otherwiae good bodies. ScottD961 06-04-2008, 09:33 AM P.S. You can do the same thing if you have an exact donar car too but for me that proved really difficult and I hate to waste a perfectly good car because the wing is snapped off of the front ! 22tall 06-04-2008, 09:47 PM Gluing a strip of styrene under the wing makes them more durable. PD2 06-05-2008, 08:23 AM PD2, the black Tyco Indy car you're speaking of....Is it the #1 Tyco? That car is a mail-away promo car. dlw, I'm cannot remember how I got that car - I just remember getting it at the same time I got the Bud Indy car for my Tyco track that I got as a kid during one Christmas. I've kept those two and a few others from my childhood, but remembered the black and gold one. I'll snap some pics and post up and maybe you guys can help identify it. Thanks! PD2:thumbsup: PD2 06-05-2008, 08:25 AM here are some pics of what Indy car I have to give you and idea what you can look for . The first pic that shooter has here has my black and gold Indy car - I'm fairly positive that is it, but will double-check when I'm back home. DLW, Is that the one you are talking about? That was mail-order-promo? Man, I don't recall how I got that car. Thanks! PD2:thumbsup: tjettim 06-05-2008, 09:11 AM There were two different Penzoil cars, slightly different size lettering. Two different STP cars, one light blue, one dark blue. I saw a red penzoil once too, wish I had bought it. jstudrawa 06-05-2008, 10:45 AM Well, I just broke the exact same side of the front spoiler on the Budweiser car. So that makes the Pennzoil and Bud looking bad. I guess my office walls are tougher than I thought :( I may just get some NASCAR bodies since the F1's are so fragile. I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to waste your generosity on my bad driving :) Slott V 06-05-2008, 11:21 AM There were two different Penzoil cars, slightly different size lettering. Two different STP cars, one light blue, one dark blue. I saw a red penzoil once too, wish I had bought it. The Pennzoil cars are #4 and #5 Penske cars. I think #4 was Rick Mears 1988 Indy 500 winner and #5 was Danny Sullivan's 1985 winning car. This is the best picture I could find of a couple I have. Yes the spoilers are notorious for breaking off on those Tyco bodies. I have a small box full of them. You can see on the one car I made a brass nerf bar in front of the spoilers but they still got smacked. :p http://www.supervipersystems.com/VargoSpeedway/HO_Cars/Collection/wallcars01.jpg jstudrawa 06-05-2008, 11:46 AM Yeah, it seems the SG+ F1 bodies are a bit tougher? Haven't broken any of them yet. Anyone know where I can get 440X2 NASCAR Narrow bodies on the cheap? :) tjettim 06-06-2008, 06:20 AM Ebay, they pop up now and then. jstudrawa 06-13-2008, 03:18 PM Also, can you get Lexan bodies to fit them? Is there a body clip? vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
