cih1979 05-30-2008, 11:40 PM i hope no one here was bidding on some items i had on the bay, BUT, when i put in the auction instructions that i ship to the U.S. Only, and the winning bidder lives in Germany, and the second chance offer lives in Thailand WHAT DO YOU DO?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????:freak:
cih1979 05-30-2008, 11:50 PM :woohoo:OK, Nevermind haha buyer just emailed me apologizing knowing i was probably freaking out, has a shipping address in Arizona, i just dont want to risk someone losing something they paid for in the shipment across seas
jedimario 05-31-2008, 12:19 AM I wouldn't send it so long as you very clearly stated that you don't ship outside the US. Just give the person a refund if they already paid and you can...otherwise tough luck.
Understanding directions and terms is a basic skill that all people should know in order to function properly in society in my opinion.
Rayman 05-31-2008, 12:38 AM It kind of cheeses me off when I find an auction that I want and they won't ship overseas and the auction goes for much less than I would have bidded. USA residents are the worst for it too.
cih1979 05-31-2008, 01:22 AM i just checked the USPS website and it will cost $37 to ship 7 matchbox cars, he said he would give me $18 extra, i dont know what i'm gonna do, Rayman-i think most ppl-americans-dont like to ship overseas because its so likely that whatever is being shipped will get damaged or lost along the way. all i have ever heard about shipping outside the US is how typically everything gets destroyed on its way to its destination, IF it gets there! :(
slythorne 05-31-2008, 02:55 AM I know longer ship overseas.. you can blame ePay and PayUpPal....
Ebay won't let you accept anything BUT paypal in some cases... and Paypal won't tell you what services they accept to cover MY butt. I sent out $25 worth of cars to I think Norway. The buyer claims he never recieved them. I was out the $25, plus $10 shipping on a package I sent. I could have fought it, and ended up paying Paypal an extra $10 for making it go to claims... but being I shipped the "cheap" method, first class Airmail (formerly Airmail Small Packet) I got nailed. The only method that I am sure that is Paypal approved would have cost over $30! for $25 worth of cars.... Most foreign buyers don't like to pay via Money Orders because it costs them $20-30 they claim...
No on Paypal + No on Money Orders = why bother shipping outside the USA??
JeepXJLover 05-31-2008, 05:54 AM Heck I've had problems just shippin' a tiny package to Hawaii. It ended up there 'opened' with the item inside MIA. It was one Micro Machine. How hard is that to deliver? lol
69Stang 05-31-2008, 08:16 AM I know longer ship overseas.. you can blame ePay and PayUpPal....

I'm afraide I'm with you on this one. In order to assure the package is covered for overseas delivery, you have to spend the money, and without knowing what the different rates are, I don't even know what to charge!
Stangfreak 05-31-2008, 08:22 AM That stinks when the buyers do not read the instructions... I just email them back and tell them I do not ship overseas... All transactions are void as it says in all of my auctions !!!
rattlehed 05-31-2008, 10:26 AM It's pretty simple, most people don't take the time to read the WHOLE item description. Shipping is expensive. Shipping overseas with any type of tracking capability is REALLY expensive. Shipping without any means of tracking the package is like playing the ponies. You win some, you lose some. I work for a living, I do not sell a LOT, I am not a powerseller, I do not run a toy store or online warehouse, I do not have time to haggle over shipping which for me involves a trip to the post office. The UPS man doesn't stop in every afternoon for a pickup so shipping for me is a hassle to start with. With my hectic schedule I don't have time to spend online communicating back and forth for 3 or 4 days with shipping cost talks especially for an item that is not worth a BUNCH of money(which most of the items I sell are not). Add to that the risk of losing in the feedback system and having your rep tarnished over something worth very little in the grand scheme of things is silly as is paying $20 to ship a $25 item. Those are the reasons I only ship to the continental USA. Continental only because I live on the east coast and Alaska & HI are expensive as they are in the farthest USPS zone from me. Hope that sheds some light on the question.
jage1966 05-31-2008, 01:49 PM I have about 500 buying and selling transactions on eBay. I make it perfectly clear to bidders that any bidder who lives outside of the continental US will have to pay ACTUAL shipping costs, no ifs, ands or buts. It's the only fair thing. If they use PayPal and underpay the amount, they'll get another invoice for the remainder.
That's my two cents.

DaWeber 05-31-2008, 02:07 PM In this case why not advise the buyer that he should provide you with a US address ( possibly a collector friend)? Then you have no problem. I ship to Europe all the time and have done so for about 12 years. To date, every package has arrived safely! I cannot insure the contents since the recipient does not like paying the extra tax in his country. Thus I have to put a very low value on the mailing form for USPS. But so far, so good!

Man send him an e-mail stating no shipping outside your country, no if ands or buts. The end. The person just had to read, I read and probably 99% of the people here read. I bet you read when you want to buy right?
To bad for the buyer. Tell him you well refund, thats it that all. Don't get sick over this my friend. Take care.

i don't use ebay any longer, and haven't for years. but way back, i always posted the same, no shipping out of the u.s. if someone did, i cancelled the bid. don't know if you can any longer.
420 Tech R/C 05-31-2008, 06:42 PM Yeah ebay has gotten out of control here lately. Now as a seller you cant leave a buyer a neg. feedback. what the hell is that all about???? I currently have 2 items that were won over a week ago and have to wait another 5 days to get a final value fee credit to my account, and they were buy it now items with payment due within 24 hours of purchase!!!! And no way of getting the buyers in gear to pay because now they have no fear of getting a negative feedback.Oh, but I just got a negative feed back on an auction for a used item that said clearly no returns or refunds on used items in the return policy because the guy wanted me to refund him 1/2 of the price he wonit for AFTER he received it in the mail claiming the condition was misrepresented. How can you misrepresent a used item listed as used and buy it as-is?????I dont know, but I got a neg. feedback for it, the first one I have had in a year with 850 positives. It's complete and total B.S.!!!And I cant even leave any feedback for the douchebag, because if i do it has to be positive!!!you cant even leave a neutral any more!!!The guy was totally black mailing me saying if I didnt refund some of the sale price he would leave crappy feed back.THE NEW FEED BACK SYSTEM SUCKS!!!!
No_Ice_Kustoms 05-31-2008, 07:52 PM I ship overseas all the time, not an issue you can ship alot of cars for under 20$ and if you use the right customs form you can tell when & where it was deliverd at NO COST!! There is alot of people who live in other countries who want the stuff we have so why not sell to them???? DONT BE SKEERED U BE AIGHT!!!!!! I am a EQUAL NATIONALITY $$ TAKER...;)

Send them emails to EBAY, they want to hear abt them and they will take care of it. Probably get him a suspension also, forward them the emails NOW.

edseldave 06-01-2008, 01:34 AM I ship overseas all the time for smaller items . The USPS website has all the foreign info there . You need the weight of the item & the 1st class limit is 36" lenth , width & height combined for most countries & 4 lbs . Otherwise Priority is required . There are 2 customs forms , 1 for 4lbs & under , and over 4lbs or Priority . Delivery times is an issue though , some countries must have bad customs departments . Ive had stuff take 2 months to get delivered ... Once the package leaves the USA , you cant track it , unless you pay for Express mail - which is $$$$$... But Ive also had stuff delivered in a week ! So its a crap shoot for when they get it ...
Ebays new feedback policy does suck , I get far too many non payers & now I cant leave negatives - thats just wrong !! I dont know why those idiots even bid on stuff , if they arent going to pay for it .... Do they think the seller automatically ships stuff , because they won the auction ??? Ive heard horror stories about Paypal too , seems like they always side with the buyer , whether they're wrong or not ...
Ive been lucky so far , no lost overseas packages & no paypal refund claims ... but someday , I'll get whacked by some jerk .... Seems like it happens to everyone sooner or later ....
I dont sell much stuff on ebay & there isnt much for alternatives to it either ....
43rdMuscle 06-01-2008, 08:59 AM Out of 250+ 1/43 cars in my collection, 300+ if you count 1/64, I have encountered only 1 problem with eBay and it was my fault because I did not read the feedback rating of the seller before bidding. 99% of my collection CANNOT be purchased new. All auction houses are an asset to my collections and I will continue to use them unless other avenues are available. The bottom line is "BUYER BEWARE".
Thanx, Frank

You cant even track that, you can just tell WHEN it was mailed and when Its deliverd. If you use the big form to mail the packages YOU CAN TELL WHEN ITS DELIVERD & its FREE.

Stangfreak 06-01-2008, 11:43 PM I think from now on I will have in big red print,
NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING * DON'T ASK ! * Shipping to U.S.A. ONLY !
But then there are still some idiots from overseas who will bid anyway !!!
73black 06-02-2008, 04:41 AM Ah, seems i'm one of the few who lives overseas. And before you all attack me. I DO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!. Sure it sucks if you want a item and they only ship in the US or where ever. Its just a matter of time till you find someone who does. As for shipping prices you can blame the shipping companies, they really overcharge you in the US. I can ship to the US for half the amount. And as far as damage or not getting here, it hasn't happen to me yet! (knock on wood).
As for PayPal, well it's just the fastes way to pay for what your buying.
suckerpunch83 06-03-2008, 08:31 PM When I see something I want to bid on, 99% of the time if they state they only ship to the US, they will ship to Canada. I know its not overseas but most of the time they will do it. You Americans are good to me.
