Went to the flea market Monday, saw SCJ just walking in as we got to the parking lot. Didn't think I would find anything except SCJ's rejects.

What I did get was a brand new TYCO Racin' Bandits set and some Aurora L&J track. Included in the L&J track were two 15" straights. Got it all for $20.

What I did NOT buy were some TYCO cars. Fiero for $75 was one of them. Some others that I can't remember what they were, but were way overpriced.

I found 2 tracks, when I asked the sellers (different guys/different tables) "Hey, you got the cars for these", they both laughed and said Yea, but their not here.
dickholes.........I know I sell on ebay, but it has crushed the "yard sale" type farmers market/ Flea markets.

Their is one regular seller with a pay by month permenant shop inside, who has the same cars there this year that he had last year. If you could picture what something would go for on ebay, fair price, take that and double it, and you would have this guys price.

When I said to him, "How do you keep in business, you know this stuff is way over priced". His response was "I dun make da prices up I det dem for Bob Beers price book".....needless to say I walked away with the wife laughing my arse off. Even she knew Bobs catalog don't have pricing.

I have a post on here, way way back, that sounds exactly like Ed's gripe and is likely about the same guy (who ain't that bad really, he just doesn't know slots). What annoys me the most, well...besides the fact that the stuff is too pricey for me, is that there are literally hundreds of AXF/Tyco cars that are taken out of circulation. He's always there at the crack of dawn, too, scouring the casual vendor's tables, snagging anything up then throwing it on his shelves. As such, scoring any "flea market finds" at this place is virtually impossible.

BTW, you guys should ask him about parts....boxes and bins full of vintage stuff. Sadly, if you asked him about christmas tree arms, he'd probably think you're some nut wanting to decorate his upper limbs. :freak:

This ain't always a bad thing, I scored my first Super International set like this, still in the box sans cars. When I got the pissy attitude about the cars, I interjected..."Well, how much do you want for what's here???". The controllers and warts were still in plastic. Ten bucks later I was on my way to finally going from Tyco to Tomy.

A month later, at the same market, I scored a second SI set, again sans cars and this time in a plain carboard box, for a whopping twenty-five bucks.

No kidding, and going further south doesn't make it better... So when I go to the edge of PA for a family reunion, and cross that state line, I'm gonna expect to clean up!

Only question: do I need a trailer, a roof rack, or should I just make room by leaving someone behind?

What a nice haul.
