Curt, You coming alone or will you be able to drag some others with you? Glad to hear your coming.
Curt V 05-27-2008, 05:22 PM I don't know of anyone else. I tried to work on Wes Hatton but he doesn't seem to be very interested in racing at this point. The Cornbelt series in 2008 is turning into Bob, Larry and myself plus the occasional stragglers.
DMP_SMOKE 05-27-2008, 05:54 PM hey curt you tell wes that pirrello said he has no stones even i will be racing the wing wonder:woohoo:

FMurry8995 06-02-2008, 11:37 AM Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at MPR for the great weekend of sprint car racing. Races went off without any troubles and I must say that the races were the best set of heats and mains I have witnessed at any race in the 12 years I have been racing. The 215 laps of heat racing and the mains plus all the practice and warm up laps were run without any major wrecks I do believe we only had one caution for a spin in the main and don't remember any in the heats other than for a single car mishap.
For the seven racers that made the show I must say very well done guys. I will race with you guys any day , it was a real pleasure.
Now for the rest of the story, Randy Baker was finnally unseated from the throne. Joe Brooks had his car dialed in and on a rail. There was no stopping him. He was just plain fast and he drove like he was the only one on the track. Dave Pirrello was next fast with his sprinter. He and Randy Baker were back and forth swapping for second place in the main but on the next to last lap Dave got second place for good. Randy Baker ran hard and fast but was just a tick off Joe's and Dave's pace. The locals did good. Other than me finishing last due to a broke heim I don't know the rest of the finishing order. Bob Elliott, Larry Hopsin and Curt Vershure were in there some how. I believe that was the order but Joe or Dave can post the official results.
Also want to thank the powder puff crew for fixin the eats and a belated happy birthday to Katie Brooks. The cake and ice cream were great.
Look forward to the return in three weeks for the Tri state race. Maybe I have some better luck and finish up the ladder so to speak.
I also would like to thank the sponsors that donated some great door prizes. I can't remember them all so I will let Dave or Joe post who gave what.
DMP_SMOKE 06-02-2008, 08:14 PM final standings for shootout
1 Joe Brooks 75 laps
2 Dave Pirrello 74
3 Randy Baker 74
4 Bob Elliott 69
5 Larry Hopson 66
6 Curt V 65

like Fred said the racing was GREAT the 75 lap shootout was just over 9 minutes long I felt like Iwas standing there for a hour, man that was intense, 2 times my sprinter was on 2 wheels going into turn 1 and both times I saved it man that was awesome:thumbsup:
