Hi folks,
Just new here, looks interesting, working on friends 5.5 Tecumseh, stalled originally, will only start about 10 seconds then stalls. Engine has good compression, I have removed carb for cleaning, weird thing is pressure and sucking sound in crankcase, blowing oil out around dipstick tube.
It acts like a gasket leak from carb to intake or intake to head but this pressure in crankcase has me baffled, since pressure relif valve not plugged. Any ideas?

Thanks

Please post the engine numbers usually located on the engine shroud just above the spark plug. Tec engines have a tendency to loose oil around the filler tube, a new gasket or reseating the filler tube usually fixes that, on some models there is a crankcase vent tube that goes to the air filter or just hangs along the block, it could be clogged, for the carb problem,
Here we go;
Clamp off the fuel line, remove the carb bowl, release the clamp to see if you have good fuel flow to the carb, raise the float to see that it shuts off the flow with minimal pressure, clean the junk from the bowl, clean the bowl nut, 2 holes close to the bottom and a tiny one about midway up(I usually use the wire from a twist tie), spray all holes, cracks and crevases with brake parts cleaner, reassemble(be very careful with the bowl gasket) and you should be good to go. If this didn't work it will be probably be necessary to rebuild the carb. If I missed something one of the real mechanics will post to help further. Refer to the photo below. Have a good one . Geo
