Originally designed by Simca (owned at that time by Chrysler), the Tagora was eventually marketed as a Talbot when Peugeot (owner of the Talbot brand) took over Chrysler France. Peugeot decided to amend the original Simca design by replacing some Simca mechanical parts by Peugeot 505 parts.
the Tagora didn't sell well as Peugeot saw it as a competitor for their 604
