View Full Version : Freddie's 2008 Asphalt Oval
Freddie's Hobbies 05-18-2008, 10:11 AM Summer is finally here. It looks like we might be getting some nice weekends for a change now, instead of the cold and rainy ones we have been having. As many of you know we hold a large race on the July 4th weekend here at the asphalt oval.
We had 80 plus entries last year that came from across the country without even knowing if the track was even going to be completed or not. I feel safe in saying that everyone really enjoyed themselves. We will be holdings the race again the July 4th weekend and I will be posting the classes we will be running on the event thread. Starting May 25th we will start running 1/10th scale on Sundays starting at noon. We will be running foams and if you have not ran on the oval you will be in for a treat when you do.
For those that were here last year, we will be running the staggered start each week to get a nice qualifying set up. And we have finished the driver’s stand. We have cemented under the stand as well. We have our PA system all finished and running we broadcast on FM now so everyone can be on the same page. I know we all had a good time last year. Lets make these next few months something we can enjoy for 2008. Hope to see everyone :dude:
Hey Raymond, I will have pleanty of cool refreshing beverages :drunk:
Freddie's Hobbies 05-18-2008, 05:25 PM Well I posted this and have had people already in the storer buying tires and stuff for next week. I also had some people stop in the store this past week and yesterday, asking about nitro turning cars.
We run our ¼ scales on Saturday, there is nothing wrong with 1,2,3 heats of something else. It’s all good. I just would like to run all the noise classes on one day and save Sunday for strictly 1/10th scale racing. This way the two different types of people do have to intermix. Everyone can just do their thing.
So nitro turning cars, 1/8 scale cars come on out on Saturday and lets crank those puppies up. Let have some fun !!:woohoo::woohoo:
adamliehr 05-22-2008, 10:15 AM I'm going to get up there and start testing for mod and/or 10.5 here as soon as I can, anyone else interested? It's always more fun, and you learn more with other drivers.
I'm going to try to bounce between Classic's off-road and Freddies oval for the summer.

Freddie's Hobbies 05-28-2008, 11:42 AM The July race is posted on the event page. Any question please just ask. I know gas prices will cut into a lot of peoples race budget. For those who can make it. Racing and " Pops" after the race. FOr those who cannot make it, I wish you have a nice 4th, and a great summer

Freddie's Hobbies 06-30-2008, 08:11 AM Just wanted to say thanks to eveyone tha come out yesterday. Hope you had a good time. I had an appointment and had to blow out of there when we were done. See you again soon:wave:
redfoxr 06-30-2008, 11:27 PM Hey Freddie, we from central ohio had a great time. Your track is awesome for outdoor fun. Hope to see you this weekend for the big one. Later, Jim
Workman:dude:
redfoxr 07-06-2008, 11:04 AM Hey Freddie, Thanks again for letting me borrow your equipment yesterday. For those of you that missed Freddies Worlds, SHAME ON YOU. This is one of the first rate outdoor tracks in the country and you folks are not taking advantage of this. I always want to promote this hobby, but when I see an excellent facility not being utilized it makes me ill. You racers need to help promote the hobby by supporting your local race facility and hobby stores. Off the soapbox. Later, Jim:dude:
Freddie's Hobbies 07-06-2008, 05:31 PM Your welcome Jim Any time. Anyone that knows me, knows I will go out of my way to help someone or make them feel welcome. Its what I do. Its a shame only a few true 1/10th scalers are the same way. The rest must think the world revolves around them. Oh well. Next year there will be no worlds unless some people really do some changing and I really do not see that happening.
First class facility will be racing 1/4 scales and those people trully appreciate whats here.
Freddie, You have without a doubt the BEST outdoor facility in the country. Until BMS closed I would have had to flip a coin between both tracks!!
Anyway, just wanted to send you a little note:
"We grow to soon old, and to late smart" Maybe you should hand this saying next to the "ARCOR" rope I sent you last year. That piece of rope was like passing the torch!:rolleyes: As you may have found out, you can't push it, no matter how hard you try!!!
JB
