I know these are toys, but I think this is probably the best forum to post this on.

Today I stopped by Toys R Us and found a Tardis bank (with light and sound) and also a Sonic Screwdriver toy (also with light and sound).

Tardis is 8 inches tall with opening doors. Different sets of words from the show are activated when the door is opened, and the light and motor sound is activated when the door is closed. Inside the door is a picture of the doctor and his companion, and a slot to drop in your coins.

The Sonic Screwdriver is 7 inches retracted, and 8 1/4 inches extended (no jokes, please! ;) ). It has an ink cartridge, as well as a UV ink cartridge which you use to write on the sheet of 'psychic paper' in the wallet he is always showing people as his ID in the show. The UV light from the screwdriver makes the words written with the UV ink show up, and you can wipe the 'psychic paper' clean for more messages. Just do not write on the 'psychic paper' with the regular ink tip!

Apparently we can order more UV ink tips from the manufacturer, but it's in the UK and I don't know how much it would cost me for some spares here in Utah.

Even my daughters think the Sonic Screwdriver is cool. One even wants one for herself to play with.

They had a remote controlled talking Dalek at my TRU, plus a plethora of figures including the first and second doctors (Eccleston & Tennant) as bot a two-pack and individually, Rose and Martha, and a lot of the villains. The also had the sonic screwdriver, but no Tardis here.

Is this TRU in the US or UK? I found my local comic shop had a ton of toys as well...

I believe that we were both visiting Toys'R'Us stores here in the good'ol U.S. of A.

Mine didn't have anything the other day when I checked, best I could tell. I was pressed for time, but I checked the aisles that have the Star Wars toys, and those around it. Figured those were the most likely places to find them if they were there.

I want one of those sonic screwdrivers! Apparently, if it is the same as the toy that available in the UK, it was actually the source for the prop used on the show itself — at least beginning in the second season.

If you google BBC America Shop, you should find the US wing of BBC's merchandising effort. There is a Canadian one and I've seen the sonic screwdriver, Tardis USB hub and other items there - so they should be on the companion US site.
