View Full Version : Mirror finish topper ?
old442dude 05-04-2008, 06:19 PM Hi, found this at a antigue type flea market this morning, the paint is shinier than any of my other toppers, might this be a mirror finish car? Does anyone have a pic of a real one for comparison? Thanks, Eric

Reddwarf2 05-04-2008, 08:04 PM I say no. But all I have are the purpley mirrors, nothing I can compare it to.

it is a beautiful thing....i can post other pics if you would like to see them to help eliviate any confusion....and it has the "headlights" that come all the way to the edge....this baby is almost absolutely perfect as the day it came out of the blisterpack....it is one of the centerpieces of my topper collection....

I'd love to see more pics. Maybe one of the base with a wheel removed.
POCKETWOCKET 05-17-2008, 02:36 PM it's not easy taking good pics of a mirror car....

i have never taken the wheels off of any of my cars....i'm afraid i might mess them up if i try....is there an easy way to do it to get the pic you requested? or are these good enough to show what you want? let me know....
50yearoldkid 05-17-2008, 02:53 PM Nice!!! but if you can see any micro polish scratches or swirls in the metal under the paint, it's not a mirror! I have a lot of NEAR mirrors. a mirror is flawless. hope that helps you.
50yearoldkid 05-17-2008, 03:33 PM Heres a near mirror.
Reddwarf2 05-17-2008, 10:24 PM Yep, not a mirror. But a very shiny car none the less.
The wheels don't always have to come off to reveal the mirrored under-body.

Mr.Stubbs 05-19-2008, 06:11 PM Nope...... it's not a mirror but a beautiful car none the less!!!!!!!!!
Those early Turbines seem to have a paint job like no other cars. There is also a variation on the early Turbines. See 2nd pic!
My favorite mirror Turbine!

Can you spot the oddity on this early car?

The wheels on Toppers can be removed and reinstalled with no problem. They are pressed onto the bearing that rides on the axle. Very easily done and comes in handy when you need to upgrade a set.
Reddwarf2 05-22-2008, 05:46 PM Well well well, looks like we got ourselves the full blown painted interior on this one. Red Seats and painted console(s);)
Just a quick question, what's the going price for one of those mirror turbines, not the golden ones, the purply-pink ones?
Sorry old442dude for hijacking your thread.

Reddwarf2 05-23-2008, 08:19 AM LOL That's exactly why I was asking. I am the high bidder right now. He's got a reserve on it and I was wondering how high it might be. Probably pretty close to the BIN he has.
old442dude 05-23-2008, 10:33 PM Reddwarf2 , no offense taken, I took the pics off as I needed room in photobucket. I'm very appreciative of all the info that has come to light in this thread. If only mine was a mirror finish car..... at least now I know what to look for. Take care, Eric
cih1979 05-26-2008, 12:54 AM $200? wow and people think hotwheels go for decent money!
Reddwarf2 05-26-2008, 08:58 PM Good Price.
