I recomendations for a motor for my 8ight. Its the kit version so i know it inside and out. Umm.. i was thinking of getting an O.S. 21 vzb vspec cause someone i know had one and it was pretty reliable. I was also thinking of getting an LRP z21 spec 2 or somthin like that.. idk I dont want a .28 motor cause i wouldnt need all that power. So yeah help me out. Any suggestions are good.

Thank you

Have you checked out www.rcproductdesigns.com?
We are going electric with the 1/8th scale buggies and they are awesome.
We are using A NEU 1512 1.5D/F Brushless motor with a 5000 Mah 14.8V 30C/60C Lipo packs and the new Monster Max from Castle or a R1 Pro from Tekin. We are seeing 0-40 MPH in just over 2 seconds with top speeds with conservative gearing at close to 50 MPH.

And you'll probably have more in your NITRO powered 8ight than if you would have bought both the new motors you asked about. Come on man, he asked about a nitro motor for his 8ight. He DID ask for any suggestions but I believe he was referring to nitro engines.........

In my opinion it is really hard to outdo the reliability of the OS engines but you are hearing a lot of guys running the larger LRPs in monster trucks with very good performance. So if the .21 is as good as the .28s then I almost thing it's a wash and comes down to price.

Like dan said the electric/brushless combo IS the way to go. I bet that in 2 years time the nitro classes will be in decline ,BUT the 1/8 electric classes will be one of the most popular classes to race because its all the fun of big 1/8 scale without the headaches that come with nitro 2 stroke engines.

You can't beat the O.S. race line of motors for price/quality/performance. The PICCO's I run are darn close though, and the P7R (at the time I bought mine) were far cheaper than the V-spec from O.S.

Don't know much about the LRP's. However, most performance and reliability issues will arise from poor maintenance and improper tuning, no matter what motor you use.
