Stripped down, replaced engine gasket kit entirely. I am trying to find out where the timing marks should be, I did not make not when I started, dumb $#% naturally. I have put it back together, with the marks near meeting in the center point of the two gears, from the back of engine, open crankcase side, the right piston was at top center, am I on the right track? Any help?!? thanks ... Ken, Handy in Houston. 1999 engine, Model 303447.

It doesn't matter where the pistons are positioned as long as the timing marks are aligned as below, And here's the cover sequence to boot;
