i am kind of new to oval racing and i have grown alot and learned alot but i still suck at rebuilding my side shock i used to use the associated ones was really bad at building those and for the last few months i have been running the top gun vcs shocks which are better but they still leak. now they have the hot bodies .12 cyclone i think thats right name but every one is sold out and on back order until june. is there any other options besides the hot bodies for a side shock with a lader so i can build my shocks ow i want them and not have to worry about them again until i want to change oil weight.

I personally use the IRS Top Gun shocks and I have never had a problem with them leaking. I have never used the Hotbodies Shocks so I can't comment on them. If you build the IRS ones correctly they shouldn't leak. Side shocks are not a build them and forget about them kind of deal. You should do regular maintenance on them. For a club racer you really don't have to rebuild them every week, but you should change the o-ring and foam insert on a regular bases.

I agree on the side shocks. There isn't one out there that you just build and leave alone. I usually change out the foams and seals about every 4 weeks. The IRS shocks don't leak if they are built correctly. Don't expect them to rebound fully because if they do then they are not built right. About 1/3 to 1/2 rebound max. I have IRS on all of my cars and love them. I even put the new center shock on last tiem and it is great.
Same on the rc oval on how to build them. If you follow the step by step on that website than the shocks will be right every time.

get used to rebuilding associated side shocks, in alot of peoples opinion they are the most consistant, not to mention the right length, witch is very important, yes they are a pain in the rear but when built right they are as smooth as any. must rebuild every other raceday. good luck
