Any suggestions? dawgpile 05-01-2008, 10:06 AM I read your other post as well. First, I hope you meant you gapped the plug at .030, not .0030 as you stated. Not sure how you verified you had spark. Also, not sure where you put the starter fluid(right in the cylinder via the plug hole or just sprayed it in the carb with air cleaner off. In either case, if you have spark for sure, I'm surprised you got no pop whatsoever. (this assumes of course you have at least some compression) When you tried starting before, did you pull the plug and verify that fuel was making it to the cylinder? In other words, was the plug wet? If you definitely have spark and the plug is wet, I'd be inclined to pull the flywheel and check that you don't have a partially or fully sheared key. That causes the timing to be off and hence, even though you have spark and fuel, it will never start. For giggles and grins, I'd probably replace the plug for $2.50 just to take that out of the equation. If, by the way, you aren't getting fuel to the cylinder, I'd make sure there isn't a fuel shut off valve that's closed. I'd also loosen the fuel tank cap in case the vent is plugged to verify that's not the problem. Neither of these would explain why you don't get some pop with starting fluid. Keep us posted.... gbawaba 05-01-2008, 11:48 AM Thanks. You are a big help. That was the info that I was looking for. Yes, I meant .030. I took the spark plug out while it was connected to the coil wire and held it close to the grill/bolt and pulled the cord and saw it jumping. I just sprayed it in the carb with air cleaner off. I am going to walmart right now and get a spark plug just like this one (J19LM Champion) I have the carb. off and am carring it to parts store and get some Carb. cleaner and let it soak for 6 hrs and get a new carb. kit and put on new gaskets. I'll take the old carb apart carefully and observe how floats, needles, bowls, etc. is in there so that I can put back together. Can you send me some pics of putting carb back together? johnson7540@bellsouth.net Thanks for your help and any others out there Kyle:wave: gbawaba 05-01-2008, 12:00 PM model # 130202 type# 3129 01 code 91040207 I may need help with putting the links back on to the carb after it soaks tonight...anybody got any pics of how these links go back on carb? dawgpile 05-01-2008, 02:35 PM BTW, you can go right to the B&S website and download the IPL(illustrated parts list). FYI, this engine uses a diaphragm type of carb. No float, needle, seat etc. I'd replace the diaphragm for good measure. Not expensive. My experience with these type carbs is the fuel inlet pipe gets clogged. This is typically a white plastic pipe extending into the fuel tank with a fine screen in the bottom of it. Make sure you clean that out well. No real need to soak carb for hours. Rather if you take some carb and choke cleaner to all the orifices, and replace the diaphragm, and gasket that goes between carb body and tank top, that should be sufficient. Also may need to replace gasket between carb 'body' and cylinder if it stuck to one or the other when you disassembled the unit. As for pics of the linkage, I'm not sure how much of it you disconnected. If all you did was take carb off and not mess with plate that has the actual throttle cable attached, you should just have the one solid link that goes between the top of the throttle plate of the carb and the governor. If there are multiple holes in the throttle plate(sometimes up to 3), you can usually figure out which was used by close inspection. Same is true for selecting the holes for the other links or springs. Just take a close look at the available holes and you should see signs of wear to indicate which hole was being used. Finally, if you intend on keeping the unit, or have other B&S small engines, I'd recommend investing in a repair manual. They are a wealth of info and pretty inexpensive IMHO! Good luck! gbawaba 05-01-2008, 09:00 PM I put it all back together and it's tearing up the yard.:woohoo:Thank you for your help.
