View Full Version : POLL...........What Would You Pay For a 1300+ Rotor?
Tornado_Racing 04-28-2008, 03:36 PM Let's hear it guys, if someone very well known in the R/C Industry offered a rotor that checked 1300+ on a Zubie Meter what would you pay?
1. The rotor would be checked using the new Hyperdrive Rotor Jig for the Zubie Meter.
2. A pic would be posted of the actual number on the Zubie Meter w/rotor hooked up.
3. Seller's name and reputation would help insure accurate numbers within a 20+/- meter to meter difference.
pmsimkins 04-28-2008, 03:42 PM $29.95
Until the rotor has been run at least once I wouldn't put much stock in the number. I also wouldn't trust someone else's meter or measurement method to be the same as mine.
swtour 04-28-2008, 04:12 PM $9.95...IF I felt I needed another rotor...but since my car and driver SUCK - a rotor wouldn't be the first thing on my list of priorities.
TIRES - TIRES - TIRES are where I need to spend money~~~
Racin'Jason 8 04-28-2008, 04:25 PM Nothing...unless my current motor burnt up - AND that rotor came inside of a can. ;)
People are looking for tenths in the wrong place.
davepull 04-28-2008, 04:43 PM lol yah 29.95.
katf1sh 04-28-2008, 09:50 PM i'll wait on novaks rotor zapper to be copied...and than borrow a friends....he he
Porksalot4L 04-28-2008, 10:12 PM i think everyone that would buy a rotor that is really good, just isnt saying it. people love to buy speed :) i wouldnt spend more for one and if i had one id sell it for top dollar lol
TeamGoodwrench 04-28-2008, 10:57 PM Where is the "none of the above" or "not a penny" voting option ??
katf1sh 04-28-2008, 11:56 PM alot of guys would pay 90.00 for a 1300 + rotor if tony thre in 30 new spur gears....
Blaser 04-29-2008, 04:06 AM I would pay 120
really fred 04-29-2008, 05:05 AM a a a a a a a a nip
what would you pay to have someone show you how to turn your rotor into a 130+ ? ? ?
Flipper13 04-29-2008, 08:12 AM I would not pay for it, I would just use it. !!!!!! Ha Ha
brian0525 04-29-2008, 08:48 AM What would a 1300 rotor do for you if you already own a 1400?
Todd Putnam 04-29-2008, 09:44 AM Nothing...unless my current motor burnt up - AND that rotor came inside of a can. ;)

You have chosen wisely, yung grasshoppah-
"What would you pay for a rotor that TQ'd every race it has entered, including the Snowbirds, and was only in the 900's?"

I wouldn't. I'd try to buy the can! :woohoo:
trailranger 04-29-2008, 01:05 PM I wouldn't pay more than $29.99 for the rotor. I would endup gearing one or two teeth higher and my luck would have it that the rotor would fade and I would be overgeared. From there, its all down hill, my batteries dump faster than other racers and my off the corner rip is more like a crawl.
I am sure there is some merit to the higher numbers. But the higher number rotor would be the same as the larger 13mm rotor vs. the standard rotor. Sure it has more torque and my produce more watts but sometimes higher RPM is faster than Higher Torque.

After the person teaches me how to break the laws of physics will I be able to apply that to other things in my life or just RC racing rotors? That determines how much I'll pay.
The real problem with this poll is the quality of the rotor being tied to some arbitrary value on a guass meter.
How much would you pay for a rotor that was .05 per lap faster on the track? Now that would be an interesting question.
trailranger 04-29-2008, 01:31 PM pmsimkins,
I wouldn't pay extra for a rotor that was .5 faster. Reason, the guy who is selling it is either lying or holding out on the rotor that is .6 seconds faster.

The question is based on the assumption that the gain is real. .05s per lap is 2 to 4 seconds over the course of a race depending on track length, which is a lot. If that is unrealisitc call it .025s per lap and apply the same question.
trailranger 04-29-2008, 02:25 PM on the asumption its real....yeah the person selling would most likely be holding onto the "true" great rotor while getting rid of the second best or third best rotors for some profit to find more great rotors.
You guys caught up in the rotor stuff makes me laugh.
I have one rotor in one motor I dont even care what the numbers are on it.
If some one is a lap faster than you its not you Fen rotor.
It is probely a combination of several things rotor being the last of them unless of corse you have one of the very first motors with one of the very first sintered rotors out that you have over heated several times ect.In other words old and abused.
I have all ways bought my motors used the same motor has been the slowest car at the track in the middle and the fastest.Only thing that changed was the chassie manf, set up,foams, gearing, body placement.

It makes no difference what other rotors the seller has or does not have. The question is very basic. What would someone pay for a known lap time improvement over what they currently have?
My only point is that would make an interesting or less uninteresting poll then what this is.
I think as soon as one of you guys makes a sintered rotor ZAPer you are gona have a product to buy.:woohoo:than we can zap them every round rite.:rolleyes:freez them rub them with wax store them togeather ect.
And I am not trying to offend anyone that wants to make money giving people something they want and edge or that alike.
Jake
pmsimkins 04-29-2008, 03:19 PM A sintered rotor zapper would be pretty pointless. A zapper to truly saturate a Neo magnet as big as ours would be really expensive. If a person has a rotor that is low it is because it was bad to begin with or has been damaged underneath the plateing.
A magnet zapper would be eqivalent of selling an invention that claims to let you put 17oz. of beer into a 16 oz. mug.
You're right though. People would still buy it.
Pat I think you caught my point that is what the  was about.
But I do think Doc Brown could make one.He made a time machine you know.
Jake
pmsimkins 04-29-2008, 03:43 PM Pat I think you caught my point that is what the  was about.

My sarcasm detector picked it up, don't worry! :)
Sooner or later someone is going to sell one though.
A magnet zapper would be eqivalent of selling an invention that claims to let you put 17oz. of beer into a 16 oz. mug.
So then the new poll should be....
If you could buy 17oz. of beer, in a 16oz. can....
How much would you pay for it? :drunk:
But to be serious, okay, maybe not too serious,
I could take a 1300 rotor, and race against Pat with is 1100 rotor,
and I'm still going to get beat... I would not pay extra for the rotor.
If I were traveling, and racing at the same level,
as the top racers, and we were always qualifying
within a second of each other,
then the rotor bumped up ~10 bucks, would not be a horrible investment,
if I really wanted to beat those guys...
Racin'Jason 8 04-29-2008, 04:14 PM New poll....
How much would you pay to race with a powerplant that people don't exploit or create mystical conspiracy theories about? :drunk:
Quite frankly, this would be "priceless" to me.
I wouldn't. I'd try to buy the can! :woohoo:
HA HA!! Pay more money for less windings...LOL
Just kidding.
Setup and driving has alot more to do with it then just the rotor.
katf1sh 04-29-2008, 08:16 PM how much would you pay for free beer?
nickbell1390 04-29-2008, 10:02 PM i have two rotors....one reads high, the other does not....interestingly enough....with the proper gear ratio they run the same....food for thought...whats the great equalizer?

Racin'Jason 8 04-30-2008, 03:01 PM Sorry, Tony...we were just trying to show that the 1600+ rotors are coming from China (inside of cans) and will be landing in Todd's hands soon.

You probably only need those if you handle his rotors or speedmeter. At least to keep his drool residue or whatever he might have deposited on them off your hands.

I'm think the drool might just be a facilitator to the real action taking place..lmao
