A couple of quick points....your pics are SUPER and the background is breathtaking!!!!! Let's face it, ugly cars would look good setting in the middle of a beautiful boat!! Very nice shots indeed.
As for the car it's self, I am amused by the overall casting. Just like I posted with the 1:64 version, this is a strange mix of information as far as drag racing goes. Jady has really made a very nice casting, but just like with the 1:64 version, I keep trying to figure out exactly what it is!
It’s as though they got their research a bit mixed up and morphed two different types of cars together!
It is marked as a funny car (FC) with the 320 being an assigned sanction number, like the owners ID number upon being issued a NHRA licence.
But the strange mixture is the body it's self. Looks like they used photos of the new '67 Pro Mod carbon bodies in the various current Pro Mod series to design the overall shape. And I must say the really nailed it to! It looks great, but it's a pro mod body, not a funny car.
Ah, you say, but it opens like a funny car, so therefor it must be right? Wrong, Pro Mods must have a left hand door, be left drive and do not allow the body to lift. Pro mods maintain a rear window in most series while funny cars do not have back glass work. Also, funny cars do not carry a pro mod style hood scoop or second plane rear wing. Both of these are found only on a pro mod, not a funny car. You could make a case for maybe a IHRA alcohol car, but it would still be weak, this is one awesome pro mod that thinks it a funny car! Could we get a doctor in here, stat?
It's a current design, so this is not a throw back or retro ride (see wheels choice for example). With the funny style construction, this would have fit back in the Gasser FX or factory experiential classes in the 60's Think the Malco Gasser or Mr. Gasket mustang's of Ohio George for the 60's and 70's.
So what's the point to all this? Not one! I just though it was pretty neat that this was a blend of two very different types of drag cars. I think it looks great, and with the body is has, it looks like the AWESOME pro mod that it is. But I will most definitely be looking for that black one. That thing kicks drag racing tail!
Thanks again for the pics.
