View Full Version : SG+ rear hub size and slip on silicones...
jstudrawa 04-28-2008, 12:27 PM Greg Brauns' site doesn't list a rear hub diameter for the SG+ car. I am eating up the expensive silicone tires I bought (yeah, I crash a lot) and want to get hubs and slip ons for home use (going to get a few more rear ends to swap out for competition).
Anyway, what's the best bang/buck for hubs and slip on silicone tires out there?
Mike(^RacerX^) 04-28-2008, 12:56 PM Best slip ons imho are Super Tires.I think the price got raised $.50,but still, for $1.50 a pair,ya cant beat them. They last forever it seems too.And they come in two different compounds.Do a google, and they'll come up.
SAme as you,I got tired of burning out the expensive sponge silicone tires.
For the money that I save using ST,the ever so tiny difference in performance compared to the sponge tires well worth it.

jstudrawa 04-28-2008, 01:49 PM Thanks! He's up to $2 a pair now, and I'll get some 440X2 wheels and make them fit.
Appreciate it.
jstudrawa 04-28-2008, 02:47 PM Are these worth looking into?

Also, Super Tires look to be slices of a silicone hose. Hmm...
Jimmy49098 04-28-2008, 03:06 PM Hello, the ones from frank the racer on ebay are great, and they are supertires, I like the .430 and .434 tires on bsrt ht257 wheels for my super g plus cars, the same wheels with the wizzard pvt10 .422 tires will have you just above or scraping the rails.
twolff 04-28-2008, 03:11 PM tubtrack is a good guy. He sells stuff from his web site too:
http://www.slotcarcentral.com/
There's a lot of stuff up there :) But, haven't tried any of the tires you linked.
SuperFist 04-28-2008, 07:10 PM I use AJ's part# 3050 white or part# 3050B black Delrin double flange hubs (.250),
with red wide A compound soft SuperTires part# 384.
On the hubs they are at .436.
On a Tomy track you can go lower with forest green wide A compound soft SuperTires,
part# 383 on the hubs they're at .432 and the magnets won't drag.
jstudrawa 04-28-2008, 08:25 PM Thanks again, but what's the explanation why there is no tire made for the SG+ hub? It seems a popular car given they come with the sets and are Tomy's current?
Also, no real noticeable difference between the expensive silicone and the Super Tire? The expensive ones are a LOT better than stock, can't wait to try the ST's out.
SuperFist 04-28-2008, 09:16 PM You can't get good slip on tires for Super G+ or Wizzard P3 and Storm cars because the hub flange is inside the tire.
An alternative would be to get a Tomy / AFX Turbo rear axle assembly for $2 because they use .275 single flange hub on a .63 axle.
It has a 22 tooth crown gear but you have to remove the Turbo gear boss or change it to the Super G+ gear boss to make it fit into the Super G+ chassis.
Then you can use the tan A compound SuperTires part# 380 at .436,
or go up to the royal blue A compound SuperTires Part# 381 at .440 but that's kinda high.
brownie374 04-29-2008, 10:17 PM Try grinding the stock super g tires down with sandpaper
