I am using (5) 3800 matched batterys for my power source, (receiver & servo) on my 1/4 scale car.
What is the best or new way to discharge & store these batterys?
Back in the day we would use (10) 1152 tail light bulbs to discharge a pack & then solder a resistor across the poles for storage. What say you?
Thanks,
Mike

you can get a 20.00 tray from integy for complete discharge and then leave a small charge in them about 700milliamps or you could dead short them. but if you leave them partially charged make sure you check them weekly becasue the newer cells tend to self discharge.

Mike, I/we used to run CEC 1/4 scale electric cars from Fine Design.Back then we used to use 4-5 Ni-Cd's to power the radio."If" you have some old
Ni-Cd's around try them, they worked fine, and "alot less maintenance".
I still have a ton of 2400's around,if you need some let me know.

It Really Depends On How Long You Are Planning On Storing Them.

What I Do After Every Week If We Race On Sunday I Just Pack Every Thing Up And Then On Monday I Will Take Out The Charger And Put A Full Charge On All My Packs And Then Store Them You Should Always Keep A Charge In The Nimh Batteries If You Dead Short Them Like The Guy Above Said You Can Only Leave Them Like That For About A Week Or So Any Longer And They Might Not Come Back. Hope This Helps
Or
You can buy one lipo pack which is lighter, more capacity and you do nothing
but charge it when you need it.
Just put a full charge in it when you store it!
Lipo is the new electric!

Thanks Dave & others,
That's what I do now. We will usually race on saturday, unpack on Sunday and do my PM or reapir on Monday. Which includes discharging, rest & recharging.
Thanks Guys, Like I said it's been a while since I have fooled with big Nicad batterys.
