i have a 10.5 motor that i bought from some one that is one of the better drivers around my area and the blue wire was cut he said that it is just the temp. wire which i am sure is true but what would you gain from clipping this wire. and since its sensored will the motor some what govern itself if it starts getting to hot. would like to know before i cut the wire on my 13.5 and my other question is? is this even legal.

Ya, it will keep the esc from shutting off when the motor over heats. Not really good. I'd run it with the wire connected. It will run fine with it disconnected. By the way if your not going to use the wire, pull it out of the connector, don't cut it.

as best I can tell, all wires must be connected to run a Roar event! Rule book states "If motor is sensored- It must use a six position JST ZH connector model number ZHR-6 or equivalent
connector with 6 JST part number SZH-002T-PO.5 26-28 awg contacts or equivalent.

I didn't even know roar was still around. I wonder what brl rules say.

You can disconnect them for BRL. As for ROAR I think you can there as well.

ROAR rules, for onroad at least, allow you to run without sensor wires hooked up. This is to allow you to run sensorless ESC's. But the rule says the motor has the have the sensors and wires.
