 You can't swap GL rims the same as a JL.
Pablodragon 04-21-2008, 06:14 PM wow, yer right... what a bummer... just grabbed a GL 68 Roadrunner off the display and ..hey, axles are solid and both wheels spin together
oh well
Joe Falco 04-22-2008, 08:01 AM JL axles are solid as well, however, they use a 2 piece wheel with the tire acting as the "clamp". GL uses a one piece wheel.

No_Ice_Kustoms 04-22-2008, 12:16 PM Here is a comparison shot for those who have never messed with the wheels, it should clarify what Joe Said ^^^.

They could be made to work but it would entail more than a basic wheel swap!!
tamiyatim 04-22-2008, 02:34 PM Oh lord... let me explain what I meant more clearly...
Johnny Lightning is providing spare custom wheels with their cars now... Greenlight isn't...
Johnny Lightning is doing what we've been asking from Greenlight... It would be cool to see stock & custom wheel sets from GL along with their custom shop tools....
164hack 04-22-2008, 09:04 PM I keep thinking someday, somebody will come out with a 1/64 "tire & wheel shop". I could blow a lot of money there.........and I imagine many more people would be drilling rivets. Couple of you guys with the thick wallets need to contact some people like Kyosho and get back to me, please. Thank you.
I'm sure this has been brought up frequently. Just trying to keep the dream alive.

Dude, read all the posts...the issue really isn't who did it first, but by the design of the wheels.. GL CANT offer them....
JL, you just slip off the tire and outside rims and replace it... it's a major pain in the A%$ trying to do anything to a GL wheel and tire
jimhowie2000 04-22-2008, 09:29 PM That JL 70 Coronet has pretty lousy wheels on it as it is so, it is no wonder the extra set is offerred. The extra set should have been the set mounted on the car to begin with.
MoparWL 04-22-2008, 09:43 PM You can change the wheels if you are careful. This Cuda looks a lot better with new shoes.

traveller426 04-22-2008, 10:51 PM Oh I havent forgotten the good times I had spending nearly all my money on Johnnys. Yeah, how could I ever resist those cars with those removable wheels and tires. The first time I saw those, I was estatic. But years have gone by and with changing times calls for changing brands. Oh I could buy more JLs if I want to, but I won't. I guess those Greenlights opened my eyes and made me realize that change is inevitable. Nevertheless, I would like to thank Johnny Lightning for giving me a different perspective on collecting 1/64 scale cars and not having to rely completely on Hot Wheels to wait for a good car to come out. Damn peg warmers. Anyway, I am officially choosing Greenlight Collectibles as my choice of diecast brand. Now if only I can get my hands on a Green Machine Black Bandit 1968 Charger.

I am with ya dude alot of us have that DREAM
It probably won't be done (which SUX) because they know the diehards who want diff wheels will spend 3-5$ on a car they dont like but has nice wheels to strip them off of and put on a car they like. Its a win win for them that way. Trust me if i ever hit the lotto i am gonna do my best to set the diecast industry on its ear by making stuff they are to BLIND see that would sell and make them millions upon millions.
Tire Sets, In Scale realistic Trailers of all kinds, In scale Pulling rigs for the Trialers, Modern Buildings (Houses, Bizznesses, shops, you name it). AirCraft of all kinds in true 64th Scale. Snap together expandible diorama bases with streets and curb and gutter & the list goes on but they to BLIND to make it and take our $$.
DREAM THE DREAM!!!!!
