20 racers enter and one man leaves.... with all the pink slips:woohoo:
i have printed out the sign in sheet. this will be cut into strips with all racers names. and a number has been given to each slip.
i will fold these up and drop them into a hat and 2 slips will be pulled out at a time. untill i have ( 10 ) pairs of names. as i pull each pair out it will also drop you into who runs who and what stage you will run in and what lane you will have.
example....... i pull the first name he will be on the top which means he will run the left lane. second person will run the right lane. your slip will be marked with a L or R telling me which lane to put you in.
please dont forget to put your address and hobby talk name in the box so i can drop your slip in the box with your car this will help on not mixing the cars up. taping your name to the bottom of the car will help or with perm-marker on the chassie.
pairing will begin tomorrow.

hw track. height will be 5 ft. length will be 20ft with drag chutes after finish line with a run off track.

:thumbsup:testing the track out tonite and here is the results....
track was set at 2ft 10 inches high and 20ft 7 inches long
car's ran on a very ruff track with humps and alot of track give.
the car's first run was a 2.02 running up to 2.24 rest was in between 2.02 and 2.24
i ran my boy agains my old first place winner and i smoked him all 3 races:woohoo: that stang still has some get up and go. i ran him in the stang against the 2.02 car. this car was fresh out of the hw package.

we are going with a 5ft high and 20 ft track. the track will be straight with no humps or movement it will be locked down. and i must say both sides are very fast. we even swaped lanes to make sure one side wasn't faster. a 2.17 car ran 2.17 in the other lane and the 2.02 ran 2.02 in the other lane.
you out there addicted??? i ran your old car and the left front tire locked up. if it haden't been for that your old car would have won.:(
fellas if you build your cars right thay are gonna be smoking down this track at a 5ft......this is gonna get good!!

start running only 3 days again. so dont wait or your car will be late and you forfit your car.

me and dustin built the track today. all i can say is .....very fast we tore these cars up testing the track. i wont say any more about it except it is 5ft high and 20 ft long with a 20 ft run off and these cars used all plus more and that was on an upgrade.... so hold on to your hats it's gonna be a fast race.:thumbsup:

Haven't heard of any plans in the near future to cut the Mail to 3 days. My wife's a rural carrier so unless they just spring it on us we're "gold." Probably the reason its not being done yet is most rural carriers use their own vehicles. They haven't had a milage increase in almost a year. Don't even want to think about them cutting to 3 day delivery. The back-up in parcels would be unbelievable.

Sure would like to see some shots of the track. I've never participated in a gravity race other than the one I ran down the road that goes up Chimney Rock Mountain. That was in a #2 wash tub with 4 bicycle wheels. Out of all the stooooopid things I've done , and there's been many, that was the dumbest. Is the "run off" a slow down? Is the finish before that? You said something about a "drag chute?" Most of these questions could be answered with a photo.

Here's my entry to ThunderDome 2008.

Since I got my hands on my first '69 Chevelle casting I've made a slew of different promotion cars with it.

These are a sample of several new style flames of mine.
I create a few different single tongues of flame and then stretch, distort and stack them in layers for a nice realistic fire wrap.
I call this one my Superman Flames since they match Superman's colors.

The HobbyTalk roof Decal was created one letter at a time and then aligned and spaced in PhotoShop.
The wide H is two different H's in separate layers with one stretched wide to achieve the correct effect.
I think it came out pretty close to the one at the top of the Board less the little face.

When I reached in the bag with 30 or 40 Chevelle bases I didn't notice till after riveting that of all in the bag I grabbed one with a wheel variation.

This has been lots of fun and I have nearly 20 other finished Chevelles to show.

My car is all for show and doesn't weigh very much.
I think from your description of the track that weight will be the deciding factor here.
Whoever gets mine I hope they enjoy it.
You have to take it out in the sunlight to really appreciate the way the Decals light up from the underlying SnowWhite Pearl and the topcoat with Brilliant Gold Pearl-Ex Powder.

Hey eyecandy, what would be the cost for a custom case to hold the cars. I doubt I'll need it but I bet someone would love to have one.

news up date
hot.....had to break the track down do to heat.. but only takes 8mins to redo.
me and dustin locked everything down and ran test shots. checkered the 1/8 mile and quarter mile. then ran test again only with the drag chutes attached.
took 45 mins to get 2 runs in with chutes. :(
we are removing the chutes.... its not worth the hassle but did get pics of cars opening the chutes. one run the chute opened so hard it tore the car completely off the track sideways.ive got pics of the track and will post all pics i take. sorry i have not posted any yet but ive been very busy.

i will post on action going on. blow by blow im bringing tablet to keep track of event upsets..lol
as of 1:15 no mail and i will keep checking untill 3:05 pm. then we do custom contest then we fill the air with smoke.
all cars have been place in a dmc box with titles and what round thay will run
i will post pic of box in 15 mins at race results thread. this thread will stay locked untill we are done:wave:
