I sure do love me some early Jaguars -
Or as the the Brits would say "Jag-u-ar" ;)
Old world craftsmanship, the smell of the leather interiors, sexy as all get-out bodys
even on the sedans. Those big Mk-10s, 420-Gs and S-Types make me all melty!

I think real 1960s Jagwars have the timeless style that the company has failed to reproduce since they dropped the E in 1974 with the sole exception of the wonderful XK8 (also made by matchbox & Hotwheels).
Lesney did a good job on the Mk1, Mk2 and XK (great to see you have the orange XK Karl:thumbsup:) but the Mk 10 does look from the rear rather like an S-type or 420G but rivals Husky nailed the Mk10 IMHO.And the metallic red no32 started something that so many other companies copied in the 1960s and 1970s making metallic red versions themselves - most famous being Husky & Playart. The red no 32 was my childhood favourite Matchbox after the 25 Cortina GT

Jagwars
:lol:Good one! Almost missed that. :D
Wasn't there a Daimler based on the smaller S-Type with a 420 style nose?
I wish someone would do some of these lesser known Jags.

Oh, I've also heard it pronounced "Jagwire"...yikes!

Husky nailed the Mk10 IMHO.

Hmmmm. I'm not so sure that I agree on that one SMS!
Let's have a "Beauty Contest"

First a photo of the real car:

Then comparasing shots (do you reconize the husky )
I agree that the Husky has the best looking rear-end
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j216/karl-e/IMAGE003-14.jpg

From the front, Matchbox is best looking!
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j216/karl-e/IMAGE004-14.jpg

From the side, Matchbox is most true to the real car! Look at the lines around the windows, the Husky looks like it has lowered roof.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j216/karl-e/IMAGE005-11.jpg

And now the final "killer-shot" The Matchbox shows that it can do more than just look pretty - The Husky quickly sneaks away as it knows it has lost to a better car.

But my favorite model of the Mk.10 is neither the Matchbox nor the Husky, Nope, it's this Corgi (I'm not that thrilled 'bout the colour, I wish it had a deep red)

I dunno, I think the roof lines are off a little on both models. The MB one a tad bit too
high and the Husky too low. From other pix I've seen it should be somewhere inbetween.
But I think the MB's roof is closer as is both the front and the rear of the model.
The whole rear bumper thing on the Husky hurts the realizm factor in a big way imo.
Not enough however to not make me want one for my collection though!
That big Corgi is really nice Karl!

There was an E-Type coupe at a car show here in Clemson yesterday, gorgeous car.

From the rear only, the Lesney 28 reminded me more of the 420/S-type rather than the Mk10

Well Karl, my Corgi Mk10 has done its time around the playroom floor, but it is the nicest colour, metallic rose, seen with probably the finest Corgi casting of all time , the E-type of 1969

Seen gassing up at Mick´s Garage today are these Jags, checkout the new XJ6 in the showroom:thumbsup:

I do like the shade variations of the no 32 - I dont know if I ever will have a green tinted glass issue or a truly bronze paintjob, but these 2 show the contrast nicely

I just hate to admit it, but Lummox is spot on  Good eyes my good man

SMS; your Corgi has a much more realistic and "eyepleasing" colour than my awfull "baby-blue"

Incredible but true to say that I have found these 2 orange Jags last weekend and this weekend with local collectors, the very chipped one cost $10 and the nicer one cost $15 -I dont even own the common white issue yet but these were available for fair prices so I have added them. Both have the white paint under the red making them orange, although one has a much thicker coat than the other.
