Use some 400 grit paper to sand all the edges until they are round. The basic purpose is to make it harder to chip the graphite so what you are trying to do is take all the sharp edges off. After you are satisfied that all the edges are round and smooth, put a light coat of and CA glue (Zapp etc.) on the sanded edges and let it set up. Use 600 grit paper to go over the hardened glue. The first time you sand it you will take most of it off before you see it start to get smooth but continue to use light coats of glue. It will take several light coats to get the gloss you are looking for. After about the second coat, switch to 1000 grit paper. Once you are happy with the finish, use a car polish or Mothers or most any other polishing compound on a rag and polish the edges. I haven’t done this in a while but it use to work for me back in the day. hobbyten 04-15-2008, 10:12 AM i use a nail file (the throw away kind) that i get from the dollar stores it gives you something to hang on to while sanding and they are flexible enough to get around the edges. omnis85 04-15-2008, 02:24 PM also if you want to put some color other than black on the sides go over the edges with permanent marker of your choice before puting CA on bright or lighter colors dont exactly come out that great but just a little trick, I sand with 400 then progress to finer than wet sand, making sure I round the edges as well. Make sure you give enough drying time inbetween coats of CA otherwise the CA will GUM up and not come out right. jenzorace 04-15-2008, 03:11 PM I use a Qtip to apply the ca. If your building a flexyflyer. You need to ca the outside of the chassis only. Glueing the inside slots make the car less flexy. rhodopsine 04-15-2008, 03:54 PM You may also have a look at this article from CRC's website: http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=16&mode=&order=0&thold=0 Martin Paradis RPM 04-15-2008, 07:40 PM Let me add that I wet sand all graphite in a utility sink. Graphite powder is very bad to breath in your lungs. TBRC1 04-15-2008, 08:49 PM RPM is correct and the clean up is alot easier. CraigMBA 04-18-2008, 02:08 AM I used to use a random file to knock off the big edges, followed by a bucket of soapy water and a piece of 220 or 320 3M wet/dry sandpaper. Anymore I don't care. I know the true meaning of KSG. JDW 04-18-2008, 03:21 PM Anymore I don't care.
