Healey SR XR37/Repco #34

Another model in the collection of cars from Le Mans 1970

The question was: Where to buy? Worldwide NO manufacturer had this car as a model in 1:32 in his program. everywhere was requested and investigated, unfortunately, over and over again the same answer: Healey Repco does not exist.
Frustration spread around... But giving up is never possible for a hardcore collector of Le Mans in 1970! So take some steps back and look at the project "Healey SR XR37/Repco" from another side. But first look for photos and again one of the questions was: HOW does it look from behind? The search went again over the whole globe in diffrent forums, what I am used to in the meantime. All possible and impossible sources were looked after and then everywhere searched and investigated till bit by bit pictures and information were found. THANKS again at this place for help and commitment! Just fantastically!

In the meantime Matthias, another hardcore collector, had fond a resine-model in 1/43 scale! WOW! Now we have a basis to do measurings, which we can compare with the specifications in an article...

So let’s make an inventory, what do we have, where do we stand?

* Photos from ervery side are allready here
* a model for measuring is found

* but a manufacturer is missing

Here a photo of the 1/43 scale model of Matthias

Yes if, however, a manufacturer with in the boat is taken, who should it be? On which costs is to be calculated? How big is the demand? WHAT for a model wants the customer? Only a kit, painted or not, complete or without chassis or even a RTR-model?

Questions over questions... I contacted different manufacturers and asked for, if this is possible. To which costs? How many pieces have to be taken? And so on...

Parallel inquiries were started in forums: WHO wants to have a Healey Repco?

The answers of the manufacturers did not last very long: No, were operate at full capacity. It is possible, yes! Okay... Very fast from the feedback of the forums it became clearly, that Interest exists if the following factors are cleared:

* Quality is the most important criteria!
* not every price is accepted
* painted is very important
* a kit must also contain decals and other accessories
* and it was also asked for RTR-models (Ready To Run)

Bit by bit the specifications were developed. Now it is about to select possible manufacturers. Not each of them, which offers this service, also delivers the required quality, I had to ascertain establish unfortunately (this was determined by test purchases).
Thus many were not left anymore. The claims of the possible buyers are very high and should be also satisfied if then is to be calculated of course also on suitable prices. On the last Slotmania many final questions were cleared, so that I may announce:
The Healey SR XR37 / Repco #34
comes as a resine-model in scale 1/32,
planned for the end of 2008!!

Good morning everybody,

every story comes to an end and so I have to say: All’s well that ends well.

In April 2008 I told Victor from MMK to build the Healey SR XR37/Repco #34 from Le Mans 107ß. We had nearly no pictures of this car but now the situation is a little bit better. Victor did a great job. We wrote tons of mails and it wasn’t easy the whole time. Victor ia an Italien who lives in Southern France and communicates with me in English…(very funny but it worked!!!). Here’s the result after some months:

Victor’s and mine English knowledges were enough to realize that car in scale 1/32:
it is WORLD PREMIERE

The first packages were send away and I hope everything will be ok,

Of course there is a little story about the process on my homepage: http://www.lemans1970-was-sonst.de

I contacted people from all over the world and I can say… All Le Mans 1970 are not just for slot racing. Wait and see…

I also want to thank all people who pre-ordered the cars and waited the time until now.

Everything is possible... if you want a car which doesn't exist, you have to be proactive for it and you will see that it works.

This ist the third car after the Chevron B16 from Milan and the Matras from Jérôme which I realised. And this was surely not my last project…

thanks for posting! The inspiration and the execution both make great stories! I will look forward to a picture of the entire starting grid pictured just as it was!

When you finish 1970, what is your next favorite year!
