Hi.
First off, I'm sorry to hear of your father's passing.

If you haven't already, try and get the cars out of the basement & into some fresher air. Maybe take some photos & post them on the swap & sell board. Some of the larger scale collectors here may be able to ballpark a value on the cars.:)

it depends on the brand .a lot of 1/18 scale car collectors leave them in the box , not so much for resale value , just for lack of space to display them, you can stack them up on a shelf plus keeps the dust off them and they want mint boxes , i think if you like cars and have the space keep them .the resale value a few might sell . we got rid of close to 500 1/18 scale cars all in mint boxes , all different brands a few we got 50 dollars each, the common brands ertl. and anson. yatming. johnny lightning and other common brands we sold to friend of my husband who wheels and deals in that kind of thing 10 dollars a car he took 400 cars he resold them at 20 dollars a car and that took him a year , he still has a few ,l.o.l. the shipping is expensive so thats what makes them hard to sell and it depends on what kind of cars , muscle cars sell.. 50s cars like the anson cars we had, the guy sold at his flea market stand. for 10 dollars each just to get rid of them . chase cars sell. you really need to make a list of brands type of cars . check out the same car on ebay . wander around a flea market see what dealers are asking . a garage sale or yard sale dont cost you anything but time , put your cars out ask best offer. if they are common cars ask 20 dollars each . i doubt very much if you would sell very many if any, if your talking autoart type of cars they have a resale value, some nascar cars sell if you can find the right buyer , make a list and if you can post a few pictures fine if not dont worry, give a brand name, year of car, we know what they look like anyways l.o.l.
it all depends on brand ,condition ,and types of cars .

same predicament happen to one of our member here in mla...luckily his daughter knew about our local diecast club ( since she was the one who register his name in our local website).

so with the help of our veteran members they first determine the worth on each model and later sell it to other members who wanted them but at the agreed price made by the veteran members.

the family was satisified with the way how the collection was sold and also happy to the fact that the collection where put in good hands of fellow collector friends.

they just kept the last model that their Dad bought as souvenir. An AA ferrari enzo!
