Did they make any terminal tracks for Tomy track without the paint on it? Did anyone clean it off or paint theirs witout painting the entire layout?

It is the plainest one I 've seen. Bud's HO is this particular seller, but others have it as well. nd

Yea thats the good one, it takes 2 power supplies. sombody posted looking for those a while back. I would like to see one like that where it goes under the other 2 lanes ang all the plugs would be on the outside that would be a hit! nice not much crasy paint on it

I've always hard wired my own terminals to the bottom of a 9" straight. It beats having a big 'ol block on the side of a straight and allows the wiring to be routed under the layout better.

I have taken the Tomy Purple ones and really scrubbed with ELO to get the paint off. Then this dual power pack (like Nuther posted) came out and purchased that for Las Zillas Raceway to replace the 2 others that were needed before.

Going to build out a little on the edge of my track by power plug ins for a better support. When I find time...lol

For this tiny corner track of mine I need to be able to change controllers from 45 ohm to 90 ohm depending on the cars I am running. Now I just need to get some 90 ohm controllers as some of my newer AW cars seem to be a bit trigger displaced at 45 ohms.

Bob...zilla

Hard wired sounds like the deal for my future larger track layout in the basement with plug ins. I also plan on using some of the Headphone Jacks and those curly headphone extensions, that I purchased from Radio Shack, to make things a little more tidy and nicer. Spread out of coarse as, not to make a tangled mess of things and to let people have a little free walk room with the controllers at the same time. Kinda like the old phone curly cords from days gone by on steroids.

With the jacks in the wood tables I could put 8 jacks in total for an 8 lane track so, each driver could choose 2 different spots to plug into. This should help to place people in different spots for fixing cars when you have less than 4 drivers racing.

I converted my terminal tracks to drop tap quick disconnects...

Pretty easy....snap the bottom off...CAREFULLY...

This exposes the blades for the plug ins...and the power jumper...

Now....after removing the jumper....flip the track over...and you can simply use a razor knife to score the edge of the track and after a few passes you slice right through the side block...

This leaves you THREE terminals that readily accept #14 female spade connectors...

One for each lane and one that ties the other two rails together...(negative on stock tomy)

Now..you have to snip a little plastic rib here and there to get to the spot where you separate the two formally negative connections...(the feeder that ties two rails together..

Once you snip this in half...now you have FOUR terminals....one for each rail...

Again..you have to be really gentle so you dont break the factory weld from the rail to the feeder....but it can be done..

The female spade connector slides right on the steel track feeders...but you need to slightly crimp the connector to make it fit nice and snug...

There isnt one soldered joint on my layout..

Awwwww come on!

We all appreciate "affordable" and "expedient" injuneering.

Nuthin' wrong with bending an engineer's vision into something practical and more suited to the requirements of the moment. Isnt that why tools were invented in the first place?

Dengrate it all you will Crim...I still give it a "10" on the "slicker than grease" scale!

Heh...In the trade we call it a "field adjustment"...

Well thank you very much....I'm sure someone else has done it.....it just kinda came to me...

I had allready tore apart a few tyco terminals in a lame attempt to separately feed the lanes on my old layout ( ended up just isolating the common rail...fed the outside lane with a controller and wall pack...and used crossovers between the terminal tracks...worked ok for that set up)

I had ten on the damn things from all the Tomy sets I bought...I looked at that banding on the back and thought....hey...that is same size as a spade connector....how cool is that...

Light bulb went off...

2+b=cheese...or something like that...

That was interesting how you coverted the terminal track
