Hails bells man, it was my pleasure. Repairing the "Chili" was a great challenge. Although the process is identical to repairing T-jets and AFX cars, the O-guage cars have a lot of compound curves and negative spaces that make masking, wet sanding and polishing a real adventure.

After I tore the cracked pieces out and re-bonded them to the body it was mudded in with color matched plastic and knocked down a coupla times. The body received a blend mask, where you roll the tape back against itself, so when you spray perpendicular to the work surface there is no sharp tapeline. Just a nice light, fuzzy edge that knocks right down and disappears. The blend goes well beyond the repaired areas and into places where it's easy to feather in.

Once the whole mess is hardened up, it gets wet sanded and the seam detail is cut back in. Polishing is CAREFULLY done with a cotton flapper wheel on the dremel; or Q-tips in the cordless drill for tight quarters. You have to keep track of rotation so that its always traveling off the edge. It's very easy to snag an edge on O-guage cars and fling the body into a wall splat...they have edges hanging out all over. :freak:

All in all it was a great oppurtunity to do something different and hone my skills. I appreciate your patience VJ...it takes me a while to get it right.;)
