View Full Version : new quarter scaler
pup1970 04-06-2008, 07:30 PM I have recently purchased a pro1 sprint. And Ibelieve an older wcm sprint from ebay. I am vey excited to start driving these little beasts. I currently run 1/10 dirt oval and enjoy it with my son alot. I have looked at manufacturer and parts websites. Most are under construction and you cannot veiw most of the online stores. And some don't have pics of the parts listing. I do have a couple of questions for yall. Is it possible that some one has a list of all the manufatures and parts suppliers that is available or possibly forwarded to peopl that are starting out? Is brp the only tire manufacturer? Can just tire band sbe replaced fairly easily or better to just get new tires and wheels? I live near Kansas City MO and plan to start racing at timbelinr raceway in Osawatomie KS. What other tracks, dirt or asphalt, are there within a reasonble driving distance to race. I love the realistic look of the sprint cars and hope thaqt the setup on these will similar to full size. Are there any tips thet one can offer to a new 1/4 driver? Thanks for taking the time read this as I have been reading through all of the other stuff on here. Chris & william Linscott

jbell31 04-06-2008, 08:40 PM Chris & william Linscott,
Welcome to the land of Quarter pounders!!!
The QSAC site has most of what you will need to know. There are several links to manufactures sites as well as the tracks around the US.
I am the webmaster for both GLQSR and QSAC and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. I'm not the athority in 1/4 scale as this is my 3rd year in the hobby, but there are several people that are willing to help.
If I don't know the answer. I will do my best to point you in the right direction, as will most of the QSAC members, be thay online or not.

pup1970 04-07-2008, 12:12 PM I appreciate the welcome. I might not be so welcome after you see me drive, lol. I aint that bad, seriously! Thanx for the links. I am going to try and locate tracks in MO KS Iowa and possibly arkanas, that have tracks. I was going to try and groove my slicks that come with the cars, But I might need slicks to run other tracks. So I will be getting some dirt tires. If some one has a couple sets of dirt tires that they might sell for a fair price, just let me know. My planned first race will be at timberline in May. Having a quarter scale print sitting on the kitchen table makes it really hard to concentrate on my 10th scales. Gotta love the wife for letting me make a mess in the kitchen. What do you think about the predator sprint?
Rembrandt 04-07-2008, 05:12 PM There have been a few from the KC area that have come to Fort Dodge and Algona www.veteransparkspeedway.com to race in the cornbelt series once a month. they each run the same weekend one sat the other sunday afternoon

i dont know about the preditor on dirt but out of the box on asphalt it is freaking awesome, cant imagine it would be any worse on dirt. i have owned 2 other makes and this is my favorite by far

pup1970 04-10-2008, 12:12 AM Iappreciate the welcomes, I am a little lost on a couple things still. I got ahold of Fred and was a lots of help but We were losing battery before getting to the heart of the cars,,,,,motors. Too many different options on blocks and carbs. Do certain carbs work better on certain blocks? I dont think our track is goin to be qsac for local races. I understand the theory behind the workings but I dont have the year2 or the extra money to r&d. and I read alot of talk about oil mix, Gonna use amsoil and would 2oz to gallon be enough or should I go with 2.5oz? And what is the "safe"rpm to run these things at? enough for now, more will probably come,

2 to 2.5 oz of amsoil will be good. Safe RPM to run them at is wide open. These motors will take a lot of abuse and I mean alot. The WYK194 carb is a great carb with the 10.5 qsac adaptor plate. call me thursday night and I will have fresh battery and we can discuss the car and oil issues.
:)
willyplankhead 04-10-2008, 12:42 AM should be fine at 2oz mix
