Rob,I think the big thing for the Spec class is the battery has to be mounted mid ship like the Excaliber is.The other brands have a chassis that the battery is mounted in the center also thats what designates the Spec class.Like I said go to Turn 4 s web site and the rules are posted on it.The Sks with the battery mounted on the left side arnt allowed in Spec. Some one else might add more to this.

just to add a bit more detail to what trannycar said, the SK T-PLATE cars that have left side battery mount are not classified as spec cars at Turn 4. i say this cuz the SOLID chassis cars are allowed ion spec at turn 4 and they have left side battery mount.

yes and no, not exactly true.

The beefy excalibur was not the first SPEC car, the original Spec SK class was the solid Chassis that I currently own and sell, but back then they were different, such as they ran only the old style front end, 1 piece rear pod, everyone ran the exact same chassis, spec tires, batts and motor.
Our solid chassis is legal for both SPEC and PRO class. Our solid chassis has proven itself against the Pro Tplate cars week in week out. It proves that you do NOT have to spend butt loads of money to go the same speed if not faster than the tplate racers.
What constitutes a spec SK?
This all depends on how the track you will be racing them at does there rules, everyone I have dealt with does it differently.
Tires, batts, motors and certian chassis MFG IMO is Spec racing, keeping the rules Tight and fair, equals fun racing for everyone. I say certain chassis because you cant do spec racing if someone shows up with a 1 off chassis, that doesnt constitute as a spec chassis or spec racing.

The tplate cars that have offset or Speedway battery positions are considered for the pro class or non Spec class with the exception to the SOLID chassis.
Why is the solid chassis legal in both classes?
The solid chassis is just that SOLID!! no suspension other than the front end, this is thought to be a Disadvantage in tunning like the centered battery is to the Beefy car. The offset battery cars have the same Idea and theory in there chassis designs, so they are considered the same in a sense. When the rules "skor" were written up these were all discussed and thought to be in the best interest for the racer and track owners.
