WesJY 02-20-2009, 03:24 AM awesome job on yellow buggy!!! :) Wes slotcarman12078 02-20-2009, 08:35 AM This old dog just learned a new trick!!! I never would have considered rubbing compound to eliminate overspray, mostly because I shoot an entire car and not stripes. This is destined to change and my blue buggy patiently awaits it's new roof and windshield. Good to see the model A up and running, and cool to watch them back tires expand in size thru centrifical force when you wind it up! Too cool!!!:thumbsup: Thanks Bill!! :woohoo: Hilltop Raceway 02-20-2009, 10:35 AM Cool videos again Bill !!! I like the tire rev expansion shot myself, just like the bigboys. That would look cool on the TV show, where they take action shots in super slow motion. I likes that show...RM XracerHO 02-20-2009, 01:32 PM Great videos and you are right, "they get my ideas across in a way that neither the written word or still pix can." So keep them coming! Your Shoe Voodoo & Four gear hop up solved some of my issues! One interesting video was putting a pin in a slotless chassis for a Ferrari car, could you take time and elaborate further on how to put the pin in and still use the steering, thanks. ..RL Bill Hall 02-20-2009, 03:21 PM Great videos and you are right, "they get my ideas across in a way that neither the written word or still pix can." So keep them coming! Your Shoe Voodoo & Four gear hop up solved some of my issues! One interesting video was putting a pin in a slotless chassis for a Ferrari car, could you take time and elaborate further on how to put the pin in and still use the steering, thanks. ..RL Keep after me if I fergit RL. I'll have to reconnoiter that one... it's been some time since the chassis was built. I've had it under several bodies, but I'm fairly certain it'll stay under the Ferrari! I do remember that it was very easy to do once I fingered it out. Bill Hall 02-20-2009, 04:04 PM Go back and take test: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=245364 1. Nope! That's a vibe blue re-spray right off the gun. 2. Nope! That's a vibe green re-spray right off the gun. 3. Naw! That's color-sanded repolished factory slate blue. 4. Tee hee! That roof is polished Duplicolor black lacquer. 5. Oh no! That's T-jet Vibe lemon yellow right off the gun. 6. Tricked ya! That's vibe green again...straight off the gun. 7. Fat chance! That's AFX Orange straight off the gun. 8. Got me!!! That's AFX black with Duplicolor high temp clear over the top! This car was a resto for Seth and Daddy and I knew the temptation to run it hard would be overwhelming. Thus I chose to protect the finish. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/E4B2AF8-C665-4074-BEE2-BFBD83320578.jpg Here's the black willys fresh off the gun. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/1B155A7-C360-42A8-A8CD-B53B2412C276.jpg Here's the car with clear. See the difference?!!! Hint: You'll note that the highlights are dulled down and somewhat fuzzy around the edges. slotnewbie69 02-20-2009, 07:45 PM wow ya got me on that one!great model A!that sucker's fast! oddrods 02-20-2009, 07:57 PM Bill, Sorry for the double post but after I posted on another thread I realized this was the place. So once again...... If I have spliced a car together using the goop metheod but the car was spliced from MANY different color cars, can I paint the car with a single color goop? The car in question is my 62 mustang. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showpo...5&postcount=33 It is currently painted white but will soon be stripped for a little more detail work. Of course I still want it white but I realize that at least is probably impossible. craftymore 02-20-2009, 08:07 PM That looks really cool Bill. Forgive me for not reading the previous pages, but is that Willys car? Thanks for the pic. slotcarman12078 02-20-2009, 08:12 PM Mr Bill gave us a quiz in the gooping after the fact thread, which I failed to guess correctly. He threw 8 pictures of cars at us and had us guess which one had a clear coat on it. I'm truly astounded at the answer!! Bill Hall 02-20-2009, 09:18 PM That looks really cool Bill. Forgive me for not reading the previous pages, but is that Willys car? Thanks for the pic. Thanx and YES C-more it's a Willys, actually a "Speedline" Willys. Means that it was originally a gravity car...not motorized! They had chute track like Hot Wheels. You may notice that this doesnt have the t-jet Willys Gasser stance. I could have added to the screw posts but Ed gave me carte blanche on the build so it was built in the street rod style on it's existing posts. If memory serves I took a smidgen out of the wheel wells to get it all to fit properly. This was one of my all time favorite builds. Simple and to the point....plus the fact that molded in black Willys dont grow on trees! It was almost lost in the mail...wink, wink ;)....snicker tjd241 02-20-2009, 09:50 PM Now I know why you once asked me to keep an eye out for a black Speedline Willys... Musta been hard lettin that one go!! nd bobhch 02-20-2009, 11:31 PM Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack Oooooooooooooh Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Ed and Seth you guys are Lucky! Bill you amaze me all the time with every build be it stock or custom. Little stock yellow buggies are slot cars too. :) Bob...To clear or not to clear...zilla Dranoel Dragon 02-22-2009, 11:08 AM Bill, those videos are great. When are you putting them out on DVD? Learned a lot of new tricks in there. Your goop jobs always facinate me. I really need to try this but I have to come up with material for goop first. Every time I get a body that 's good for nothing but goop it ends up being a custom or a truck. ;) joez870 02-22-2009, 12:02 PM Thanks for the new vids and the game of "Find the clear coat". I did pick the right one...but I think it was just dumb luck. I really get a thrill seeing your builds and repairs rolling around your track, too, Bill. It is the next best thing to being your neighbor and I don't have to wonder where my lawn mower, hedge trimmer and weed whacker are.:D Bill Hall 02-22-2009, 01:30 PM Thanks for the new vids and the game of "Find the clear coat". I did pick the right one...but I think it was just dumb luck. I really get a thrill seeing your builds and repairs rolling around your track, too, Bill. It is the next best thing to being your neighbor and I don't have to wonder where my lawn mower, hedge trimmer and weed whacker are.:D Sorry Joe! ....but as a greyback....you were disqualified from the start; secondly you have four originals to cheat from. Hardly fair! ;) As for being my neighbor it will be that time of year soon. The lil' old neighbor men will be dragging out their grumpy, dulled lawnmowers and cranky, gummed up two stroke gadgets over to my shop. Too bad I wont be home this spring! hahahahahahahahaha :p I enjoy making the vids as time permits. Pretty obvious that we are a visual bunch, so it only makes sense to film things for show and tell. resinmonger 02-22-2009, 11:49 PM The Academy Awards are a farce! Bill Hall did not win Best Short Documentary! Well, for my two cents, your work beats 'em all, Bill. Keep up the great work. It is rare to find something that is both educational and really intertaining but you manage to keep producing videos that do it! Who can tally how many slot cars that will be saved from brutal mod jobs by some of us slot tards thanks to your work? We'd have to bring back Carl Sagan since only he could comprehend such a large number! :woohoo: Bill Hall 02-27-2009, 05:41 AM How it works http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05691.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Finally! http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05692.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Spyder progress. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05693.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 G Randy Am. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05694.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Bill Hall 02-27-2009, 06:07 AM This popped into my head a while ago and we finally worked it into something worthwhile. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05696.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Changes on the fly. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05697.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Not half bad. :) http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05698.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 tjd241 02-27-2009, 08:00 AM Thanks fer the move'n pitchers.:thumbsup: nd slotcarman12078 02-27-2009, 12:09 PM Jeepers Bill!!! Were you up all night???? The Greeny Hot rod looks great with the rumble seat!!! But with a car that great looking, you'd think that miniature Bill Hall driver would be able to get a date with a miniature Robin!! And maybe a mini Gus in the rumble too!!! LOL!! Enjoyed the show and tell with the G-Randy-Am, and I am really interested in the steering chassis and the slimmy videos!!! What a way to wake up in the morning!!! Sure beats watching cartoons!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: slotnewbie69 02-27-2009, 02:49 PM great vids bill!wish i'd seen the slimmy vid when i was tuning up my buddy's!so those magnets were from rr reed switches?seems like ya got that slimmy hummin!had to laugh,at the "i hate these things"and"billy the retard"comments.i know how ya feel, those things are a pain!thanks again for the vids,i always learn something!:p:thumbsup: WesJY 02-27-2009, 03:04 PM awesome work on all!! I like the black one (looks like a rolls royce or?) Wes videojimmy 02-27-2009, 03:11 PM I tried something simular to that a few years ago. I used the old magnets but I bored out some room and glued rare earth magnets into them... the car ran MUCH faster. I was wondering... since you bored the chassis out the way you did, and moved the magnets back.... could you swap arm with a standard t-jet arm? roadrner 02-27-2009, 03:32 PM awesome work on all!! I like the black one (looks like a rolls royce or?) Wes Another avatar? ;) Looks great. I still like the Charger one though. Gonna have to build me a cop version like that. However, right now I'm working on another pink AAR version for my collection, then comes the two tone black and white. Already have the light bar and have come up with some home made decals. :) rr Bill Hall 02-27-2009, 03:42 PM Nuther, Moovin' pitchers and talkies to boot! See from wence we have come. Seems like a million years dont it? Ujoe, Vids were loaded previously as Photobucket vid uploads takes fer darn ever! I use the Ron Popiel "set it and forget it" method and come back later. I conked out early and woke up wired in the wee hours hence the odd post time. Neil, As VJ said those are rare earth mags. A decent hobby store might have them. T-jet racer has a good magnet connection....I'm sure he'll cough up the link if you inquire. Wes, She's one of my many works in process. That car is trying to become a british thing of sorts. It's still kinda wide like a Morgan but has enough room to narrow it a bit so the original MG concept is still possible. It's just that the Morgan look kinda grew on me. The nose is a sectioned AFX Rolls, the fenders are a sectioned and narrowed AFX model A unit, all the bulk/make up pieces are AFX shadow. Jim, The chassis isnt modified. I considered the piggy back magnet method originally and tossed it. Primarily because I felt that anything interrupting the feild would be counter productive. Secondly chassis whackin is always a time consuming hassle and I was looking for something that any slottard with two left thumbs could accomplish. Certainly I considered the t-jet arm. Even if it's close one could mill some off the lams and maybe cram it after the fact. The deciding factor will be the spacing ( north to south) of the brushes relative to the two comm plates. I WAS savin' that for later until I got around to eyeballin it ...but Jimmy let the cat outta the bag. Nuthin' gets by you guys! LOL slotnewbie69 02-27-2009, 04:05 PM rare earth mags,eh?no wonder it runs so much faster!i can see what ya mean by the tjet arm thing too.that would be a tight fit!i guess the thunderslims make a big difference too,eh? Hilltop Raceway 02-27-2009, 06:25 PM I'm voting the Grand Am video, "Video of the Year". It's always great to see some of your own stuff used in the movies!!! All fun aside, I enjoy eat'n a sandwich and watch'n MMTV, as long as I don't bite my finger. This is some great stuff on here. Thanks Bill...RM joez870 02-27-2009, 07:28 PM Thanks for the new vids, Bill! ...and all you guys lay off the slimline bashing, right? :) I really LIKE the lil orphans! bobhch 02-28-2009, 02:24 AM Bill, As slotnewbie69 stated your comments cracked me up...I hate these things hahahahahahahaha and the videos are just plain informative and well done. Thanks for all the time you spend making these MMtv videos for all of us here in Hobby Talk Land. You have some nice builds going on and the green hot rod is Classic!! I love your Classic roadsters. When you lifted up your finger and the guy came up too after stating Gel Super Glue takes a little longer to dry...man I was laughing out loud. You dah man for showing it all. Bob...glad you liked the blue one...zilla XracerHO 02-28-2009, 12:06 PM Thanks very much, Bill for the video on "How it works"! You know what chassis I will be doing NEXT! Thanks for the new videos! Can't wait to replay them and put what I learned into Practice!! A real fan of MMtV. ...RL vaBcHRog 02-28-2009, 05:11 PM So Bill whats the smallest diameter tires mounted have you been able to go on your slimie? Roger Corrie Bill Hall 03-01-2009, 02:25 AM Aw shucks Roger! Couldnt tell ya the answer to that. I could slink the back end down a bit, but the taller PVT buggy tire works good with the 9 tooth and my 10 ft straight. Certainly if I had to get through tighter more technical areas like your track I'd work my way down a few tire sizes to get some even better response. As I stated it did have a bit more grunt with the feild moved in towards the arm. Shooting from the hip I'd say if ya pushed the magnets closer and dropped a few tire profile points you could really light up the tires and hang the tail out; especially if you went to Jacks tires. Next time I hit the slot cave I'll be sure and slap some other skins on and see how low it can go before we belly out. roadrner 03-01-2009, 11:26 AM More great videos! Thanks Bill. Love that black thing youre working on!:thumbsup: rr win43 03-02-2009, 01:05 PM Cool videos Bill. These are MUCH better than late night TV. hojohn 03-10-2009, 11:01 PM man what a difference those mags made were did you get them i got a slim line that wont see track time till it runs alot better resinmonger 03-13-2009, 12:52 AM Dr. Hall, I love an operation where the patient comes out better than before! Mine don't tend to work that way. Anyway, the Super Slimmy is a neat idea and the three "invetions in action" videos are sweet - fun yet informative. As it turns out, Hutts have a soft spot for the slim line chassis and you got me ta thinkin'... Time will tell... Thanks for the entertainment and ideas!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: Bill Hall 03-20-2009, 06:27 PM T-jet Six-by reprise. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05726.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Six-by cab. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05718.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Six-by nekid. http://s44.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid44.photobucket.com/albums/f30/modelmurdering/MOV05719.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Six-by ramp. It's just a matter of time!! You make it look so simple!! Nice videos Bill.. Way back when I used to drive wrecker, and had the opportunity to ride in a car on the back of a flatbed just around the yard. If that ND brit car was yellow... it coulda been me!!! We were moving it from the back yard to the storage building and I was the lucky fool riding in the car and praying the brakes didn't fail!! It was a hell ride at 5 MPH... I can only imagine what the little guy on your track was feeling... Pics if I ever get to FLA.......:freak: Hi Gus!!! Hilltop Raceway 03-20-2009, 09:43 PM Great videos Bill!!! I was afraid you had run out of film, I was getting jittery!!! That's one cool engineered hauler :thumbsup: although I believe in some states, it's against the law to ride in a towed/hauled vehicle :p:p even though it does look great, I might add!!! Thanks again...RM bobhch 03-20-2009, 11:18 PM Bill Everyone go back to post #688 to see the videos!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a fun flatbed build video series. You make some Far Out stuff. Thanks for sharing so much Kewl stuff with us all. 9 gallons of Future...LOL I only use 8. That Bill Hall via I got it from Hilltop flatbed trick is INCREDIBLE!:woohoo: The green 6 wheeler is just as great and will be fun to see it finished also but, don't rush it man. Bob...when Bill says something is pretty basic...he means for a Rocket Scientist...zilla tjd241 03-21-2009, 09:18 AM 9 gallons of Future... Why does ya think they calls it Future??.... Cuz ya never know what kinda duty a body is gonna end up pullin down the road.... It's een-shurance. :dude: nd btw: Gotta love the dog dishes... Ruffly 60 million dogs nationwide agree. Kinda gives you paws to think!! WesJY 03-22-2009, 12:29 AM DANG!! that 6 wheeler rig and flat bed are awesome!! beautiful piece of work man!!! Wes Bill Hall 03-22-2009, 12:43 PM Ujoe: Me too! Work with cars long enough and you WILL do stoopid stuff. Like driving them around using vicegrips for a steering wheel, 5 gal bucket for a seat, bigass screwdriver for a key, paperclip for the main fuseable link, four bent rims, two flats ...but only one inflated tire, and a rope between the doors to hold them closed (saftey first!) all this with the hood up and the shop monkey boy holding onto a spare jumper battery keeping the cables outta the pulleys/fan WHILE spraying carbspray in the open throttle body to keep the fire lit cuz the hunk o carp needs a fuel pump to boot....hahahahahaha....so riding in a perfectly good towed vehicle seems rather safe if ya actually stop and thinkaboudit ? Of course extra points would be awarded if you had to clear a yellow jacket nest or mice colony prior to starting. Randy: Many thanx to the Hill Top Gang, without whos generous contribution the six by would still be still be stalled. You guys need any haulin'? Just say the word! Bob: No "rokit syuntests" here just backyard "injun earing". Per usual, simple cuts, all done with hand tools. Nuther: This project had seen too many dog day afternoons go by; so any forward progress is always a milk bonus. Wes: I hope to get around to some more trucks as time permits. Cool service bodies arent something the manufacturers are tuned into so it's up to us. Thanx for ridin along fellers! win43 03-22-2009, 03:55 PM Great stuff Bill. Love the hauler. I have been lucky when buying cars that they haven't need any repairs, with the exception being my turquoise jag which has a hairline crack in the back post.
