Here's the story, I wanted to get a wireless mouse because I liked my last one and really didn't mind switching batts too much. My garage pc keyboard went bad so I figured I'd get a wireless keyboard and mouse for the house and then just use the old house keyboard for the garage. Garage stuff (wired) works great.

It is an I-concepts cheapo keyboard and mouse which uses one rx and then each tx uses a pair of AA batts. The mouse always works perfect and uses batts every 2-3 weeks just like my old one did. Onto keyboard.

Here's exactly the problem: when typing, one certain letter will be missed about 10-50 % of the time. It's usually an e , o ,p, an a, or something very popular. This only happens on certain days and is never the keyboard itself because when I find the offending letter I can push it repeatedly and see every time it is missed. Every time the letter is pressed a red led lights on the rx. I conclude it is always a "radio" problem and never a mechanical problem.
The only other thing that's constant is that the shift button will stick and again it is a "radio problem" If enough time is elapsed then the shift goes back to non-caps.

Here's what I have tried and what I have done.

Call company about 4 times and try resynching, new batts, alkaline batts, unplugging for 30 minutes, nimh batts, rechargeing batts, replace keyboard, rx, mouse, plug into ps2 , plug into usb, move rx into 4-5 places re-orient rx, push synch button 10 times to cancel it out then restartt over.

Anyways, I have now 2 complete set-ups (3rd one on the way) and can use eithe keyboard, rx, mouse and the trouble is Always eliminated when "I make a change" in otherwords when I do anything it is fixed for a few hrs, days. It doesn't matter what I do. If I change batts, it may fix it for a few days. If I change batts back to the old ones I may fix it for a few more days. Move the rx or unplug it and I get another "temporary fix" Resynching the keyboard and rx seems to get another temporary fix and will many times change which letter is offending. (If it was the Z or X I could probably get along with it)

I typed all this above with - problems because it is working great right now and I did nothing this time ,lol. It is opn 27 mhz (same as my cars/trucks) but they are always over 50 feet away and never left on when I type.

Any ideas other than it is just cheap junk equipment?

Thanks, even my computer guy tried out a set-up and has same problem, I can't believe they sell thousands of these and all have the same trouble as mine.

The thing is working perfect right now. I figure it must be something in my house , the air. neighborhood, ect. It has been working the best it has ever worked for a week or so. The last "change" I made besides resynching the keyboard to the rx was to move the rx again and it's now above the pc tower on a different shelf about 6 inches away. The instructions call for it being 8 inches away from all components. All other locations were over 8 inches away. go figure.

You may very well be getting interference, but I've found that even using a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse setup both devices can have limited range depending on location of the receiver. One thing that was recommended with the Logitech device was to NOT put the receiver on anything metal. That did help with the range, but still it is limited.

If you need a keyboard or mouse that has extremely long range, I suggest looking for a quality RF device. I have purchased a presentation mouse for large meeting rooms and it has a range well over 100' and is able to work through walls with no problem. I'm in the process of looking for a better wireless key/mouse setup for some of my smaller meeting rooms. If I remember to post I will let you know my results.

3rd Keyboard was perfect for 2-3 weeks , but now is starting to show exact same symtoms. I don't think any of this model will work perfect for me.

I have to learn that lesson over and over and over again for many things . One thing I can't fathom is that any one of these cheap units can work on any system and not give same trouble.

Same fix as the last ones. Make ANY change and it's fixed for a time. I guess more than anything I'm sure curious as to what the problem is. If I could find that I just may be able to keep it working.

I finally gave it up and went back to wired keyboard. My typing has drastically improved.

3 useless wireless combos to get rid of. Doh.
