On the back of the 2003 "Blower" cards, a red & white '55 Buick is shown. Anyone out there know why this one never made it into production? Would have been a very cool car!

View Full Version : MM '55 Buick ?? FLOYDFROG 04-02-2008, 08:56 PM On the back of the 2003 "Blower" cards, a red & white '55 Buick is shown. Anyone out there know why this one never made it into production? Would have been a very cool car! DaWeber 04-02-2008, 09:03 PM I'm assuming you are refering to 1:64 scale? If so, I never have seen it . I once owned a 54 Special 4 dr Sdn while in college and this model would have really interested me. But since Funline subsequently sold out to Action Performance who in turn was taken over by Motorsports Authentics ( NASCAR) , I can see why it apparently never appeared. rufus macdoogle 04-03-2008, 12:20 AM 55 buick never got produced. the drawing also appeared on some 1;18 scale packaging... so it seems like there was some intention at one point in time. with some other GM cars from the era being produced as MMs (56 olds 88 and 56 pontiac safari) maybe they had already overdone the slightly left-field cars from the mid 50s. STILLtheMADMAN 04-03-2008, 02:17 AM Rufus, No such thing as over doing those left field cars ! It is something cool that sets Muscle Machines apart from a lot of the rest of die cast makers ... Ya just need a balance of some Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, and somethings that just blow peoples minds. BUILD THE BUICK !!! rufus macdoogle 04-03-2008, 04:18 AM Rufus, No such thing as over doing those left field cars ! It is something cool that sets Muscle Machines apart from a lot of the rest of die cast makers ... Ya just need a balance of some Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, and somethings that just blow peoples minds. BUILD THE BUICK !!! sure, but when it comes to oddrods i'd be far happier seeing something like a henry J or a fiat topolino. particularly the topolino as the range could do with a few more rods, as in 30s/40s style vehicles. STILLtheMADMAN 04-03-2008, 01:13 PM I agree ... a Fiat all chopped down, & modified with that big blower in front ! OH YA !!! and I hoped we would see the Henry J as a NEW casting because of seeing it drawn by Rohan. I think some of the stuff that was made by Muscle Machines way back could be re-worked a little to make new castings = The '41 Willys, and '40 P.U. have fenders that could be changed to make the Willys Coupe a '39, or just a '40 Ford ... something for them to think about. And if they really wanna hit out into left field ... a Cadillac Hearse !!! A '69, '66, '61, '59, '56, '53, and a '49, = ALL BIG BLACK & FLAMED ! :woohoo: rufus macdoogle 04-03-2008, 05:22 PM yeah but a 40 ford 3 window coupe would be a custom, and while i get your point about the willys and ford of 40/41 look similar, when you get down to it there are quite a few diffences... most notably the nose.. and once you get into the amount of tool alteration required there, they may as well do an entirely new body... but i like your innovative thinking. some of the old castings could use a new grille. eg. what was done with the 69 camaro, how it got the RS grille in the relaunch wave 1. STILLtheMADMAN 04-03-2008, 05:48 PM Yep, I think you could do a change with the hood, & grill on the '50 Woody, to make it a 51 Merc, or '51 Ford, but it would still be a Woody. The '56 pick-up could do a year change on the grill, but if ya gave it a wrecker box like pictured in Rohan's drawings ... You got a whole NEW truck, same with the '53 Chevy P.U. = The cab can be changed. I just hope the Henry J will be in the line up someday soon ... Now that would make a great Gasser ! Jack that front end up boyz, and just throw the grill, & front bumper away. rufus macdoogle 04-03-2008, 06:38 PM or with the henry J, offer 2 variations. one with grille and one (gasser) with blower belt/lower engine detail.
